About The Position

The Wastewater Supervisor will plan, organize, coordinate, and direct the procedures of Wastewater Treatment Plant ensuring compliance with all federal and state environmental requirements. The role evaluates and authorizes operational control changes with considerable independence. Work is performed under general oversight but requires independent judgment, insightful thinking, and initiative.

Requirements

  • Valid Idaho Wastewater Certification Grade 2 desired Grade 3 Preferred.
  • 3–5 years’ experience in wastewater experience with Membrane Bio-reactor Aerobic treatment a plus.
  • Experience with project and staff management using best in class methods
  • Experience with predictive maintenance desired
  • Ability to effectively direct the activities of team members in a manner which will accomplish organization objectives and goals
  • Ability to direct multi-field teams in the areas of collaboration, communication, and coordination
  • Ability to train and evaluate others in the strategic, safe operation, and maintenance of equipment
  • Ability to maintain records and prepare activity reports
  • Be tactful and professional when dealing with citizen complaints
  • Ability to understand and follow all rules, policies, and regulations; maintain prompt and regular attendance; and perform all essential and marginal functions as assigned by manager
  • Ability to provide forward-thinking and quality service in a cost-effective manner and recommend improved methods of performing work
  • Must have excellent understanding of industrial wastewater safety procedures and proper use of varied PPE such as: Personal Gas monitors, safety glasses, goggles, respirators, lockout tag-out, confined space entry etc.
  • Requires the ability to climb stairs; work in confined spaces and extreme weather conditions
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee works in an office environment while sitting at a desk for intermittent periods of time. The noise level often in the work environment is usually quiet in the office and moderate to loud in the field
  • Outdoor work in extreme weather conditions at times, with areas of dust, odors, mist, gases, or other airborne matter
  • Employees work in/at heights, confined spaces with uneven walkways and are exposed to mechanical, electrical hazards
  • Work during all seasons, with extreme heat, winter ice and snow conditions, including winter driving
  • Construction hazards during facility upgrades, including trenches, heavy equipment, and overhead dangers are present at the plant
  • Frequently works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions
  • Requires driving a motorized vehicle or maintenance equipment
  • Requires lifting and moving up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifting or moving objects up to 100 pounds with assistance
  • Occasional local travel and some out-of-state may be required for training

Nice To Haves

  • Membrane Bio-reactor Aerobic treatment a plus.
  • Experience with predictive maintenance desired

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the daily operation of the Wastewater Treatment Plant and overall compliance with state and federal environmental regulations and discharge monitoring permit criteria including NPDES compliance, Reclaimed Water Permit compliance, Air Permit Compliance, and Biosolids Management compliance;
  • Coordinate and lead the operation and maintenance of the Wastewater Treatment Plant per established parameters and applicable regulations
  • Lead trouble shooting efforts and support the planning of system maintenance to prevent failures and ensure uninterrupted operations
  • Set schedules and monitor performance of operators
  • Assist with training all levels of employees to adhere to safety and compliance standards, as well as complete basic operation and maintenance
  • Other duties as assigned
