About The Position

IMEG is hiring a Wastewater Project Designer in Rock Island, IL, to lead civil design efforts as a project manager or lead engineer for low- to moderate-complexity projects and support delivery of larger, high-complexity work alongside senior staff. In this role, you’ll work closely with engineers and consultants to deliver engineering analysis, field inspections, technical reports, permit applications, and site drainage and grading designs, with a focus on supporting wastewater-related project needs where applicable. You’ll also help manage budgets, mentor others, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of industry standard engineering software, primarily Civil 3D
  • Proficient with pipe networking and road corridors.
  • Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
  • Strong technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles in the civil engineering field
  • Ability to train and mentor less experienced staff
  • Able to lead teams with others that utilize industry standard software that assists with civil engineering analysis and design
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent required
  • 3 years of experience minimum required, 4 preferred, in the building design consulting industry OR Associates degree, or certificate, in utilizing Autodesk Civil 3D or equivalent software tools or engineering preferred
  • 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting or construction industry
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight stays
  • This position is not eligible for sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and train Civil Design Technicians to support completion of project reports, exhibits, plans and specifications, and permit applications per contractual scope
  • Lead design efforts for the analysis and civil site design of commercial, residential, and industrial projects
  • Utilize engineering software and tools to develop designs, specifications, and calculations per code requirements and IMEG standards
  • Complete and oversee permit applications in coordination with the project team, client, and reviewing jurisdiction
  • Support projects through bidding and construction administration
  • Interact with clients to gather requirements and communicate technical information; build and maintain client relationships through professional communication
  • Lead project planning, budgeting, and scheduling to meet deadlines and objectives
  • Document design decisions and client instructions; monitor design progress relative to percent complete and fee expended
  • Analyze engineering problems and develop practical, efficient solutions in collaboration with senior engineers and consultants
  • Prioritize safety and regulatory compliance; interpret and apply state and local design criteria to project needs
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions and escalate potential project issues to the Project Manager as needed
