About The Position

This position is located at the Iron Bridge Regional Water Reclamation Facility. The role encompasses multiple levels: Trainee, Operator C, Operator B, and Operator A, each with increasing responsibilities and licensing requirements. The Trainee position involves learning routine duties under supervision to obtain a Class C license. Operator C performs skilled work requiring a Class C license. Operator B performs advanced skilled work requiring a Class B license. Operator A performs advanced skilled work requiring a Class A license. All operator roles involve making adjustments to equipment and controls according to procedures, with varying degrees of independent judgment. These are safety-sensitive positions subject to safety regulations, including annual respirator physicals and specific facial hair policies. Work is reviewed by observation and analysis of charts and reports.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate.
• Successful completion of science courses that relate to wastewater treatment, water reclamation, or other related area; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Valid Florida Driver's License required.
• Employees must obtain a Class C Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator license within two (2) years of hire date (for Trainee position).
• Florida Class C License for Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator required (for Operator C position).
• Florida Class B License for Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator required (for Operator B position).
• Florida Class A License for Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator required (for Operator A position).
• Must pass annual respirator physical and any other state mandates.
• No facial hair allowed between the face and the sealing surface of the respirator face piece.
• Must have a phone or be reachable in the event of an emergency work situation (for A, B, C positions).
• Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree (in lieu of degree).
• Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree (in lieu of degree).
• Six (6) years of direct experience for a master's degree (in lieu of degree).
• Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree (in lieu of degree).

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine duties in the operation of the Wastewater Treatment Plant.
• Make proper adjustments to equipment, machinery operating controls, and related control apparatus in accordance with established procedures and standards.
• Perform other related work as assigned.
• Report unusual or major problems to a shift supervisor for resolution.
• Operate a wastewater treatment plant on an assigned or rotating shift.
