Wastewater Operator I/II (Part-time)
About The Position
We are looking for a Part-time Wastewater Operator II or III in our Burbank Wastewater plant. The Wastewater Operator II/III is responsible for the operation and maintenance of equipment at medium to large sized wastewater facilities. This role requires a willingness to work all shifts, including weekends, holidays, evenings, and 24-hour emergency on-call. The position involves operating and maintaining various equipment, conducting routine testing and monitoring, performing process control and maintenance, documenting plant performance, responding to emergencies, ensuring facility security, and cleaning grounds. Additionally, the role includes training employees, providing customer service, and communicating with clients and customers. Other duties may be assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- 4 years water/wastewater experience
- Valid Driver’s License (CDL preferred)
- Water/Wastewater Operator’s License specific to state and site-specific requirements
- Ability to follow manual & operating instructions
- Advanced knowledge of water/wastewater
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications & internet

Responsibilities
- Operates a variety of equipment/machinery including: valves, pumps, motors, belt presses, disinfection equipment, vehicles, etc.
- Conducts routine testing, monitoring, troubleshooting and maintenance of production wells, water/wastewater.
- Performs and documents treatment process and maintenance of treatment facility equipment to assure proper operations and documents.
- Documents plant performance including daily flow and chemical usage.
- Responds to call outs and after-hours emergencies to repair treatment equipment, pumps, motors, sensing devices, instrumentation and electrical support.
- Ensures facilities are secure.
- Cleans and maintains treatment plant grounds when necessary.
- Trains employees on proper plant operations, repair and installation techniques, SOPs and safe work practices.
- Provides customer service functions when necessary.
- Communicates with client and customers related to routine technical aspects of operations.
- May coordinate maintenance activities at the treatment facility.
- Other duties as assigned.
