Wastewater Operator I
About The Position
Ensures that pumps, conveyors, blowers, chlorinators, vacuum equipment and other wastewater treatment are operational at all times. This role involves maintaining and operating hazardous waste disposal injection well and assigned equipment, reporting equipment malfunctions promptly, and recording daily system readings and inspections of pump leachate. The position also includes performing weed trimming and grass cutting around the facility and associated systems, collecting and processing storm water samples as needed, and entering data into excel spreadsheets while maintaining system records. Additionally, the operator will keep records of equipment maintenance and repairs, and manage the receipt, handling, recovery, disposal, and recycling of hazardous waste, including keeping logs and records of waste received and shipped off-site. Other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Demonstrates accuracy, thoroughness and attention to detail.
- Must be able to prioritize, stay focused and handle multiple, diverse responsibilities.
- A valid driver’s license, with a clean driving record, may be required for some positions.
- Some positions may require Waste Water Treatment Operator certification.
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of water and wastewater facilities.
- Knowledge of wastewater treatment processes and electrical and hydraulic support systems.
- Knowledge of collection systems, including pump stations and regulator stations.
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical theory, cross connections and pumps.
