About The Position

West Chester Borough is hiring a Wastewater Operator/Trainee for its Goose Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant and Taylor Run Wastewater Treatment Plant. This role involves performing daily tasks related to wastewater treatment, sample collection, equipment operation and maintenance, and general housekeeping duties. The position offers an opportunity for trainees to obtain the required PA-DEP operator's certification license. The incumbent will be expected to be a team player and contribute to a culture of constant improvement.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• PA-DEP mandated operator’s certification license (or ability to obtain one)
• Knowledge of wastewater treatment and plant operations
• Ability to write well
• Ability to do basic math calculations
• Ability to physically negotiate each part of the wastewater facility and pumping stations

Responsibilities

• Perform daily collection of samples and inspections of the plant and equipment.
• Monitor and record data, meter readings, and chemical residuals and adjust for proper equipment operation.
• Operate and perform maintenance on pumps, motors, gear boxes, clarifier drives, and other prime movers.
• Perform housekeeping duties, including building maintenance, grass cutting and weeding.
• Follow verbal and written instructions and notify Maintenance Foreman and Plant Superintendent of equipment issues.
• Perform other duties, as assigned.
