About The Position

The Wastewater Treatment Operator is responsible for the efficient and cost-effective operation of the wastewater treatment facility, as well as the potable water supply and distribution system, while ensuring full compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements. This position requires maintaining all necessary state and local certifications to operate the facility and working under the daily direction of the Plant Maintenance Manager.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Class C Subclass 1 Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator License
  • Water Treatment Plant Operator Class C Subclass 9 & 13 Licenses
  • Must work in a team environment
  • Maintain adherence to work hours scheduled specifically starting, ending, lunch and break schedule
  • Perform all duties within established Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) regulations and safety guidelines
  • Be responsible for Turkey Hill Food Safety and Quality Principles
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit monthly Discharge Monitoring Reports (DMRs) to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PA-DEP).
  • Prepare and submit required monitoring and compliance reports to the Susquehanna River Basin Commission (SRBC).
  • Conduct daily wastewater testing and coordinate required weekly testing with approved third-party vendors.
  • Review, approve, and process all wastewater treatment-related invoices and charges, forwarding documentation to Accounts Payable for payment.
  • Maintain and service all wastewater treatment equipment, ensuring proper documentation of maintenance activities and regulatory compliance records.
  • Communicate with plant personnel to assess water flow requirements and provide updates on Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) performance.
  • Prepare and distribute daily water flow and water usage reports to appropriate personnel.
  • Coordinate and manage annual sludge hauling contracts and services.
  • Monitor the incoming water supply and distribution system, recommending and coordinating necessary maintenance and repairs.
  • Partner with chemical vendors to facilitate required testing, evaluate treatment performance, and implement recommended process improvements.
  • Develop, maintain, and oversee daily wastewater hauling schedules to ensure efficient operations and regulatory compliance.
  • Attend and successfully complete all required training and continuing education to maintain applicable Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) licenses and certifications.
  • Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department and the organization.
