About The Position

With leadership and guidance from facility Maintenance Manager, this position is responsible for the safe and effective operation of the wastewater separation system at the Hillside Manufacturing facility. Safety, sanitation, housekeeping, GMP standards, problem solving ability as well as good employee relations are considered key elements to the success of the wastewater operator. Conduct wastewater facility operations within the compliance guidelines that are established by the local utility. Conduct equipment maintenance projects, housekeeping, preventative maintenance, and ground maintenance. Conduct water sampling, sludge handling, safety inspections, and chemical transfers. Maintain a safe and healthy environment while performing the duties of the position. Administer the receipt of chemical deliveries. Ensure compliance with all safety, food safety, environmental, GMP rules, regulations and policies. Maintain chemical inventory and report on a regular basis. Maintain records for equipment run time and chemical dosages. Completion of work orders to include chemical feed pump repairs and calibration, repair of valves and operators, and general mechanical maintenance. Attend department, safety and GMP meetings. Communicate shift activities to the Maintenance Manager on a daily basis. Other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager. Operation and general maintenance of low lift and high service pumps. Requirements

  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English.
  • Ability to lead others in the directions necessary to achieve mutually beneficial goals is important.
  • Able to perform basic mathematical, algebraic, and statistical calculations using a scientific calculator.

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of satisfactory experience in the operation and maintenance of equipment used in the controlling or purification of water at facilities.
  • Demonstrate ability to perform all mechanical/maintenance functions required of the position.
  • Must be PC literate with working knowledge of MS Office, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrate computer proficiency.
  • If successful applicant does not possess a NJ DEP N-2 upon entering the position, the employee will need to obtain the NJ DEP N-1 license.
  • After obtaining the license the employee must progress to the NJ DEP N-2 license.
  • Once the NJ DEP N-2 is obtained, the employee must maintain through re-certifications.
  • Ability to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time while performing job duties.
  • Must be capable of working in confined spaces and from heights, climbing stairs and/or ladders, bending, kneeling; able to lift 50 lbs periodically and must be able to wear a respirator required.
  • Good Listening Skills; Public speaking abilities to communicate with both hourly and salaried personnel.
  • Organizational; Decision making ability; Multi-tasking; Must have strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to accommodate a quick paced environment (a quick thinker).
