Entry-Mid Level Wastewater Operator
About The Position
Ensures that pumps, conveyors, blowers, chlorinators, vacuum equipment and other wastewater treatment are operational at all times. This role involves maintaining and operating hazardous waste disposal injection wells and assigned equipment, recording daily system readings, and performing inspections of pump leachate. The position also includes grounds maintenance such as weed trimming and grass cutting around the facility and associated systems, collecting and processing storm water samples, and entering data into spreadsheets to maintain system records. Additionally, it requires keeping logs and records of waste received and shipped off-site, and performing other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Demonstrates accuracy, thoroughness and attention to detail.
- Must be able to prioritize, stay focused and handle multiple, diverse responsibilities.
- A valid driver’s license, with a clean driving record, may be required for some positions.
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of water and wastewater facilities.
- Knowledge of wastewater treatment processes and electrical and hydraulic support systems.
- Knowledge of collection systems, including pump stations and regulator stations.
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical theory, cross connections and pumps.
- Some positions may require Waste Water Treatment Operator certification.
Responsibilities
- Maintains and operates hazardous waste disposal injection well and assigned equipment.
- Reports equipment malfunctions promptly.
- Records daily system readings and inspections of pump leachate.
- Performs weed trimming and grass cutting around facility and associated systems.
- Collects and processes storm water samples as needed.
- Enters data into excel spreadsheets and maintains system records.
- Keeps records of equipment maintenance and repairs.
- Receipt, handling, recovery, disposal and recycling of hazardous waste.
- Keeps logs and records of waste received and shipped off-site.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
