About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the Chief Wastewater Operator, operates and maintains the municipal waste water treatment plant and sanitary collections system; performing a variety of tasks, including laboratory analysis. Duties include monitoring and recording all flows at the wastewater treatment plant, performing various chemical, biological and bacterial testing and analysis required by federal and state regulatory agencies, and performing sampling and process control testing to maintain proper levels of flows, waste/return sludge rates, solids inventory and solids mass balances. The role also involves routine maintenance of valves, pumps, piping and related equipment, assisting in the repair of broken mains and related appurtenances and equipment in the collection system, performing sewer service line connections inspections, and assisting with the sludge management plan. The operator will consult with and provide information to the Chief Operator regarding treatment plant operations, monitor, analyze and convey information regarding EPA regulations, and assist in the promulgation and implementation of appropriate policies to ensure compliance. This position may act as a lead worker for Class I and/or Class II Operators and serve as Co-Operator of record for the treatment facility. Other duties as may be required or assigned, including assisting other divisions to achieve assigned tasks.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Class III Wastewater Treatment Operator's License
  • 5+ years experience in treatment plant facility
  • Valid Ohio Driver License with CDL endorsement
  • Knowledge of wastewater treatment plant operations and processes
  • Knowledge of federal and state wastewater regulations
  • Ability to read blueprints and record readings from gauges
  • Ability to perform maintenance tasks within the treatment facility and in the collection system
  • Knowledge and appreciation of safety requirements regarding handling of hazardous chemicals and work environments

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and record all flows at the wastewater treatment plant
