About The Position

RTX, a global leader in aerospace and defense, is seeking a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator in the Columbus, GA area. This role operates under the supervision of the Waste Operations Supervisor and Team. The operator will be responsible for sampling, monitoring, and operating waste treatment, sludge processing, and disposal equipment. This includes monitoring control panels, adjusting valves, performing daily checks of the wastewater treatment process and pump stations, and maintaining a daily activity log. The position requires critical thinking skills for problem-solving and a working knowledge of plant equipment. The operator will also attend meetings, maintain continuing education for license renewal, and complete required EHS training. Other duties include operating a powered industrial vehicle (forklift) and other activities necessary for facility operation.

Requirements

• Basic understanding of chemicals and chemical compatibility
• High school graduate or GED
• 1+ year of wastewater treatment experience
• Georgia Wastewater Operator License
• Work outdoors in seasonal weather conditions
• Weekend schedule, some weekday overtime may be required.

• Familiarity with water treatment principles and safety.

Responsibilities

• Perform sampling and monitoring for required permit parameters.
• Operate waste treatment, sludge processing, and disposal equipment in wastewater treatment plant.
• Monitor control panels and/or adjust valves and gates manually to regulate flow of waste.
• Perform daily checks of the wastewater treatment process and periodic checks of pump stations.
• Maintain daily activity log of operations.
• Receive daily/weekly directions from operators to perform routine operations and maintenance.
• Utilize critical thinking skills to solve problems.
• Maintain continuing education for wastewater license renewal.
• Maintain required company EHS training.
• Operating a powered industrial vehicle (forklift).
• Other activities as required to maintain successful operation of facility.
