About The Position

RTX is seeking a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator in the Columbus, GA area. This role operates under the supervision of the Waste Operations Supervisor and Team. The operator will be responsible for sampling and monitoring required permit parameters, operating waste treatment, sludge processing, and disposal equipment, and monitoring control panels to regulate waste flow. Daily checks of the wastewater treatment process and periodic checks of pump stations are required, along with maintaining a daily activity log. The position involves receiving directions from operators for routine operations and maintenance, utilizing critical thinking for problem-solving, and having a working knowledge of plant equipment. The operator will also attend meetings, maintain continuing education for license renewal, and complete required EHS training. Other duties include operating a powered industrial vehicle (forklift) and other activities necessary for facility operation.

Requirements

  • Basic understanding of chemicals and chemical compatibility
  • High school graduate or GED
  • 1+ year of wastewater treatment experience
  • Georgia Wastewater Operator License
  • Work outdoors in seasonal weather conditions
  • Weekend schedule, some weekday overtime may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily checks of the wastewater treatment process and periodic checks of pump stations.

  • Receive daily/weekly directions from operators to perform routine operations and maintenance.
  • Utilize critical thinking skills to solve problems.
  • Maintain continuing education for wastewater license renewal.
  • Maintain required company EHS training.
  • Operate a powered industrial vehicle (forklift).
  • Perform other activities as required to maintain successful operation of facility.
