About The Position

The Night Shift Wastewater Mechanic is responsible for operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing wastewater treatment equipment and systems. This position helps ensure the plant's wastewater system operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with environmental requirements. Shift hours are approximately from 11 pm to 7:30 am.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of pumps, motors, piping, valves, bearings, belts, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment and identify mechanical problems.
  • Ability to read basic mechanical diagrams, manuals, and equipment specifications.
  • Ability to work with chemicals and wastewater treatment equipment safely.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous experience in wastewater treatment, industrial maintenance, mechanical maintenance, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in a food processing, poultry, manufacturing, or industrial environment is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor the plant's wastewater treatment system, including pumps, motors, blowers, aeration systems, clarifiers, screens, conveyors, and chemical feed equipment.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on wastewater equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment problems.
  • Repair, replace, and rebuild pumps, valves, motors, bearings, belts, chains, and other mechanical components.
  • Monitor wastewater flow, levels, temperatures, and treatment processes.
  • Collect samples and perform routine testing as required.
  • Make adjustments to equipment and chemical feed systems to maintain proper treatment.
  • Maintain accurate operating, maintenance, and inspection records.
  • Respond to equipment failures and wastewater system emergencies.
  • Maintain wastewater areas, equipment, tanks, pumps, and related work areas in a clean and safe condition.
  • Assist with sludge handling, dewatering, and disposal operations.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, environmental regulations, and wastewater operating requirements.
  • Support proper lockout/tagout procedures during overnight maintenance activities.
  • Document completed repairs, equipment conditions, unresolved issues, and parts or follow-up work needed.
  • Properly use and maintain tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
