About The Position

At this level, a WT3 can perform more complex process changeovers, including troubleshooting, on standard work. They can recognize and solve some non-routine problems.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Basic computer software skills (e.g. Microsoft Office).
  • Able to read and follow work instructions.
  • Basic understanding of plumbing, pneumatics, electrical, and hazardous waste.
  • Familiar with operation of PLC interface screens.
  • Requires the use of hand tools, SAP, and standard work.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and understanding of applicable environmental and safety regulations is desired.
  • A mechanical background, knowledge of basic chemistry and some experience in Waste Treatment operations is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, support, maintain, and improve the Waste Treatment and recovery operations.
  • Support Swagelok’s operating plan along with the Swagelok mission, vision and values.
  • Fully operate the system and prioritizes wastewater treatment per production demands.
  • Operate systems consisting of various wastewater sources.
  • Improve systems efficiency by performing non-standard pH adjustments, hydraulic balancing for multi process systems and standard reagent make-ups.
  • Identify problem conditions and gain control.
  • Maintain required records for inspections and lab results.
  • Inspect and correct unsafe conditions in chemical and waste storage areas.
  • Understand operator interface controls (PLC, manual system)
  • Perform retreats to standard work with minimal instructions.
  • Recognize the cause & effect of actions taken to operate the wastewater pretreatment system
  • Independently perform basic troubleshooting skills.
  • Communicate clearly with representatives of regulatory agencies (i.e., POTW, Ohio EPA, etc.) regarding wastewater pretreatment operations.
  • Understand the cause and effect of each attribute of the system.
  • Complete treatment of solutions and recovery of sludge using operating systems and Standard Work.
  • Maintain Excellent Safety and Housekeeping using Swagelok systems and policies.
  • Communicate with ESC and representatives of Regulatory agencies (i.e. POTW, Ohio EPA, etc.), when necessary.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs and document using maintenance database. This could include, but is not limited to pump repair/ replacement, valve repair/ replacement, pH probe calibration/replacement, plumbing and leak repair, minor fabrication and organization improvements
  • Assist other maintenance associates in scheduled maintenance or repairs.
  • Plan and prioritize daily work.
  • Search out, recommend and implement process improvements.
  • Understand and use basic hand-held probes and instruments.
  • Understand and perform labeling and handling of standard waste. Get assistance for non-standard waste.
  • Support and participate in Lean Initiatives. (i.e. Standard Work, CEDAC, CIAS, 5S, OEE, etc.)
  • Work with supervisors, Engineers, and Lab Technicians to determine if water is acceptable to release.
  • Use Material Handling equipment to aid in the addition, treatment, shipping, and receiving processes (i.e. tow motors, pallet jacks, drum dollies, etc.).
  • Maintain proper inventory of chemicals and supplies and order when necessary.
  • Maintain written Waste Treatment operating procedures for all equipment, additions, systems, and maintenance items.
  • Perform basic Chemical Lab tests per standard work.
  • Maintain and develop monthly reports for internal and external reporting requirements.
