About The Position

The Waste Management / Production Technician is responsible for maintaining environmental compliance, managing hazardous waste processes, and supporting production operations. This role ensures safe handling, treatment, and disposal of hazardous materials while assisting with manufacturing tasks as needed. The position requires strong attention to safety, regulatory compliance, and teamwork in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Requirements

High school diploma preferred
2+ years of experience in waste management or manufacturing environment, preferred
Knowledge of hazardous waste handling and environmental regulations
HAZWOPER certification required or ability to obtain
Ability to read, understand, and communicate written and verbal instructions in English
Good mathematical and problem-solving skills
Mechanical aptitude and ability to use common hand tools
Ability to obtain forklift certification
Understanding of wastewater treatment processes
Ability to respond effectively to emergency situations
Strong attention to safety and compliance
Reliable with good attendance and punctuality
Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
Self-motivated and able to work independently
Strong communication skills
Ability to maintain discipline and professionalism in a fast-paced environment
Must meet respirator requirements
Requires sufficient mobility and physical reflexes
Ability to lift 50+ pounds
Pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, and lifting required
Ability to stand and/or walk approximately 90% of the workday
Ability to climb ladders or stairs as needed
Must meet vision and hearing requirements
Must be able to operate a forklift
Exposure to hazardous chemicals, waste materials, and industrial equipment
U.S. citizen or national, U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

Responsibilities

Perform assigned duties in accordance with documented procedures and work instructions
Maintain a safe working environment at all times
Conduct weekly site inspections to generate chemical inventory lists and reports
Provide emergency spill response and cleanup for hazardous materials
Support decontamination and equipment cleaning processes
Respond to ad hoc hazardous waste pickup requests
Prepare and stage loads for hazardous waste disposal
Ensure hazardous waste containers are properly labeled and stored
Maintain wastewater systems in compliance with city and state regulations
Perform in-house water treatment of chemicals as required
Maintain assigned work areas in a clean, safe, and orderly condition
Ensure proper handling, labeling, documentation, inspection, and transportation of hazardous waste
Inspect waste streams to determine appropriate disposal methods
Maintain hazardous waste accumulation areas and manage movement of containers
Maintain regulatory records including water logs, pH logs, forklift safety checklists, and chemical inventory logs
Respond to and assist in mitigating emergency events involving hazardous materials
Communicate safety concerns, equipment issues, and operational challenges to supervisors promptly
Dispense chemicals into smaller containers for production use
Support production operations including: Inspecting incoming metal and cutting per work order instructions, Cleaning metals via dip or conveyor processes, Working in stripping areas, Cutting, baking, and performing resist touch-ups, Moving products to next operations with complete documentation (travelers and inspection sheets)
Ensure processes and procedures are followed and products meet specifications prior to QA inspection
Assist other departments as needed based on production priorities
Promote teamwork, cooperation, and adherence to company policies
Clean and change production chemicals per schedule or supervisor direction
