About The Position

The Warming House Attendant represents the City of Apple Valley and its Parks & Recreation Department and is responsible for the warming house and surrounding ice rinks during operating hours. This seasonal position maintains a safe, clean, welcoming environment during each shift. Employment dates and hours depend on seasonal warming house operating requirements. The attendant must be available for required training. Employment is contingent on successful completion of a background check and required new-hire or rehire paperwork.

Requirements

Must be at least 16 years old.
Ability to work independently and make responsible decisions according to established procedures.
Must be pleasant, energetic, self-motivated, and action oriented in maintaining a safe and clean warming house environment.
Ability to provide friendly customer service and promote the City of Apple Valley and its Park System.
Must be available to work 4:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m. Monday–Friday, 10:30 a.m.–9:00 p.m. Saturday, and 12:00 p.m.–7:00 p.m. Sunday; hours may vary on City and national holidays.
Must be able to lift 50 lbs., with or without accommodations.
Successful background check and completion of required new-hire or rehire paperwork.
Must be able to attend required training.

Nice To Haves

Experience in leadership or customer service.
Prefer one year of experience or certification in first aid.

Responsibilities

Open and close the building.
Start work independently and make an effort to resolve problems and issues quickly and safely.
Maintain a clean and welcoming warming house and skating environment.
Clean the warming house and rinks daily using a shovel, mop, and basic cleaning equipment.
Know about and promote Parks & Recreation resources and programs.
Use basic first aid procedures to assist injured facility users and contact EMS when needed.
Provide friendly and helpful customer service to facility users.
Create a positive and fun recreation atmosphere in the park.
Assist with the Mid-Winter Fest Celebration on 2/6/2027.
Perform other duties as assigned by Recreation Supervisory Staff.
