About The Position

The Warewash Technician reports to the Service Manager. This is a field-based, full-time role requiring travel, located in New Haven, CT or Hartford, CT. The Warewash Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining commercial dishmachines and warewashing systems. This role supports restaurants, healthcare facilities, education, and institutional clients by ensuring sanitation equipment operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with health standards.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of commercial kitchen equipment, appliance repair, plumbing, electrical, or related mechanical experience preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in electrical controls and water/steam systems.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams and equipment schematics.
  • Basic plumbing knowledge (water supply, drainage, pressure systems).
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 + pounds and work in active kitchen environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Manufacturer certifications (Hobart, Jackson, Champion, etc.).
  • Experience with chemical dispensing systems.
  • EPA Certification (if supporting refrigeration-based warewash equipment).
  • Trade school or technical training in electrical or mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair commercial dishwashers, undercounter units, conveyor systems, booster heaters, 3-compartment sink systems and related sanitation equipment.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, plumbing, steam, and chemical dispensing systems.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance including deliming, wash arm inspections, pump checks, and heater testing.
  • Replace components such as motors, contactors, solenoids, switches, wash pumps, and control boards.
  • Ensure equipment meets manufacturer specifications and local health codes.
  • Provide professional and responsive service at customer sites.
  • Educate operators on proper use, cleaning procedures, and preventive maintenance practices.
  • Communicate repair findings, parts needs, and service timelines clearly.
  • Accurately complete digital work orders and service documentation.
  • Maintain service vehicle, tools, and parts inventory.
  • Follow safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and proper chemical handling.
  • Support emergency service calls as needed.
