About The Position

The Warehouseman supports the receiving, storing, processing, packaging, and distribution of steel products. This is a first-shift role scheduled from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The work involves handling materials with hand tools, power tools, machinery, forklifts, cranes, and computer equipment while following production and safety standards.

Requirements

Thorough knowledge of methods, materials, equipment, and tools used in material handling.
Working knowledge of computerized production systems, products, and inventory.
Knowledge of applicable safety rules and regulations related to materials, equipment, and processes.
One year of experience across a variety of work assignments as a warehouseman or equivalent.
Use judgment and discretion in performing, demonstrating, and directing duties.
Ability to read and interpret work orders and instructions.
Ability to maintain records using manual and computerized record-keeping systems.
Ability to provide training and instruction to Laborers/Helpers.
Ability to analyze and respond to emergency situations.
Ability to read, write, and communicate with others.
Ability to use the tools and equipment needed to measure and band materials for shipping.

Responsibilities

Receive, store, and distribute materials, tools, and equipment.
Move, gather, package, and distribute materials.
Package materials according to work order instructions.
Gather materials by hand or with machines, forklifts, or cranes, and use strapping tools to band products for shipment.
Mark materials with identifying information or attach identifying tags or labels.
Spray paint materials, structures, and equipment according to identification requirements or specifications.
Clean work areas, machines, and equipment using brooms, shovels, rags, vacuums, and cleaning compounds.
Complete daily safety inspections on cranes and forklifts.
Stage rail cars inside the building for unloading and outside the building for removal.
Perform additional tasks assigned by a supervisor or manager.
Observe production and safety standards while using hand and power tools and computer equipment.
