About The Position

The Warehouseman performs a variety of warehouse functions, including receiving and processing incoming material, preparing material for shipment, and managing and organizing warehouse materials. The position may involve working multiple shifts, and mandatory overtime may be required as needed.

The role includes preparing and completing shipping orders, identifying material against bills of lading and packing slips, inspecting incoming material, reporting damage before acceptance, tagging and storing received material, and cutting material with a metal saw to customer requirements. The Warehouseman also operates and maintains warehouse vehicles and equipment, including forklifts, and keeps the warehouse and work areas safe, clean, and orderly.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Ability to operate forklifts and cranes.
• Ability to work mandatory overtime as needed.
• Ability to work multiple shifts as needed.
• Ability to read micrometers, calipers, and other measurement devices.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to walk or stand for 80% of the shift.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform some bending, pulling, and pushing.

Nice To Haves

• Manufacturing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and complete shipping orders according to schedule, including loading, packing, wrapping, labeling, and shipping.
• Identify all material to be loaded using the bill of lading (BOL).
• Receive, inspect, and process incoming material; report damaged material to the manager before accepting it.
• Identify received material using the packing slip, tag it, and store it in the designated location.
• Cut material with a metal saw according to customer requirements.
• Follow quality service standards and comply with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Communicate and cooperate with supervisors and coworkers.
• Operate and maintain warehouse vehicles and equipment, including forklifts.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment by keeping shelves, pallet areas, and workstations neat; sweep, dust, and mop.
• Keep the warehouse and work area organized and orderly.
• Wear appropriate safety equipment.
• Perform special assignments as directed by the supervisor.
