About The Position

The Warehouse Trainer is responsible for developing and delivering training programs to warehouse team members. This role involves conferring with management to understand training needs, coordinating schedules, conducting various evaluations (classroom, video, hands-on forklift), and delivering training sessions on specific procedures and safety requirements. The trainer will also evaluate trainee progress, complete reports, counsel team members on forklift operations, and assist in creating and updating training materials. Additionally, the trainer will operate a lift truck and perform material handler duties as needed, ensuring all activities comply with safety and security standards.

Requirements

High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
One (1) year related experience in warehouse or manufacturing environment preferred.
At least 80% cross-trained in all material handling functions preferred.
Basic computer skills; hand-held radio skills.
Valid State Driver’s License; Forklift Certification.
Ability to work required schedule and arrive at work on time.
Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instruction.
Ability to perform basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.
Ability to identify and compare letters and numbers.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
Ability to read and write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of Team Members or customers of the Company.
Ability to work effectively with people regardless of their age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, or job type.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, co-workers and management.
Ability to maintain a level of production that meets or exceeds the established guidelines.

Responsibilities

Confers with management, supervisors, and Team Members to gain knowledge of work situations requiring training and to better understand changes in policies, procedures, regulations, business initiatives, and technologies.
Coordinates training schedule with the hiring and training demands of all shifts.
Conducts daily classroom testing, video, and hands-on forklift driving evaluations.
Conducts training sessions covering specified areas such as refresher and annual training requirements – i.e. SHARP (Ship, Handle and Receive Properly), Batch Control, SAM (super absorbent material) Hazards, LOTO, Battery Changing Procedures, and forklift recertification.
Conducts group and/or one-on-one training sessions, as needed.
Evaluates trainees to measure progress and effectiveness of training.
Completes training reports on trainees.
Counsels Team Members with problems concerning “how to” perform specific tasks related to forklift operation.
Creates and updates training manuals and agendas.
Confers with management to develop training materials.
Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of all training programs.
Makes suggestions on improving work procedures.
Operates a lift truck performing various material handling duties in the facility as requested by Operations Manager or Shift Supervisor.
Performs all essential functions of Material Handler position.
Reliable attendance for scheduled shifts.
Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
Performs all other duties as assigned or needed.
