About The Position

Ingersoll Rand is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Warehouse & Shop Technician to support operations in Schaumburg, IL. This role combines warehouse duties with shop-based mechanical work. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical aptitude, excellent organizational skills, and a willingness to learn gas end overhauls on industrial compressor equipment, with training provided.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ year experience in a warehouse or fast-paced environment
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally and 25 lbs routinely.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain an orderly workspace.
  • Basic computer proficiency (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Ability to stand, bend, stoop, and move around industrial equipment in a shop environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a warehouse, shop, or mechanical maintenance setting.
  • Forklift experience or certification (or willingness to be trained).
  • Previous exposure to industrial equipment, compressors, engines, or mechanical repair.
  • Technical diploma or trade certification in mechanical, industrial, or maintenance fields.

Responsibilities

  • Pick, package, and prepare customer equipment and parts orders for shipment.
  • Receive incoming shipments and verify materials and documentation.
  • Maintain warehouse inventory accuracy through organized stocking, labeling, and cycle counts.
  • Keep the warehouse clean, safe, and well-organized.
  • Support restocking, material staging, and order fulfillment activities.
  • Use mechanical aptitude to assist in the maintenance, disassembly, inspection, and reassembly of compressor gas ends and related components (training provided).
  • Learn and perform gas end overhauls under supervision.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment safely and effectively.
  • Assist senior technicians with mechanical work, rebuilds, and equipment preparation.
  • Support equipment staging, assembly tasks, and preparation for field deployment.
