About The Position

Best Plumbing Supply, a trade name of Hajoca Corporation, is seeking a Warehouse Teammate for its Somers, NY location. Hajoca Corporation is a large, privately-held wholesale distributor of plumbing, heating & cooling, and industrial supplies, founded in 1858. The company operates on principles of "Service, Integrity, Reliability" and values relationships of trust and support. This role is within a decentralized, Profit Center (PC) environment, where each location is managed as a small business. The Warehouse Teammate will be responsible for various warehouse operations, including receiving, stocking, order fulfillment, and maintaining warehouse safety and cleanliness. The position requires a safety and service-oriented individual with attention to detail to ensure accurate order fulfillment and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

1 year warehouse receiving and material handling experience
Knowledge of products sold at the Profit Center preferred
Outstanding customer service and communication skills.
Ability to quickly develop comprehensive knowledge of products sold at the Profit Center.
High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to build and maintain a positive working relationship with customers, vendors, and co-workers.
Ability to apply and practice safety precautions in a warehouse and material handling environment.
Ability to learn to safely operate a forklift and other material handling equipment in use at the Profit Center.
Ability to learn and operate the computer-related systems used for warehouse operations.
Read, write, speak, and understand English.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Responsibilities

Counting, verifying, and receiving incoming vendor shipments and customer return material.
Stocking and maintaining the warehouse.
Picking, documenting, and packing customer orders in accordance with Company policy and procedure.
Acting with a high attention to detail to ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction.
Handling shipping discrepancies per procedures or forwarding appropriate paperwork to designated employee.
Identifying nonstock, special-order material, and damaged material and storing in proper warehouse locations.
Completing necessary documentation for customer shipments delivered via third-party carrier.
Loading and unloading trucks, operating warehouse forklift and other material handling equipment safely.
Informing immediate supervisor of stock depletions, count discrepancies, or damaged/defective/nonsaleable merchandise that could impact customer service levels.
Ensuring security and controls are in place and upheld to protect Profit Center assets.
Maintaining warehouse cleanliness, order, and safety, including removing empty cartons, metal bands, pallets, and other debris.
Informing immediate supervisor of safety issues.
Assisting co-workers in servicing customers.
Performing all job functions in accordance with the company’s Safety Standards.
Successfully completing required safety and compliance training programs as assigned.
Performing other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.
