About The Position

God's Pantry Food Bank serves 50 counties in Central and Eastern Kentucky, partnering with over 500 food pantries and meal programs to reduce hunger. The Warehouse Lead in Lexington is responsible for leading and managing the tactical and strategic operations and activities of the Lexington warehouse. This includes overseeing all receiving and distribution operations, ensuring task completion and accuracy, and developing team proficiency. The position is a key member of the Operations team.

Requirements

  • A minimum of five years warehousing and supervisory experience, or a comparable combination of education and experience.
  • Previous experience working with inventory and food warehousing preferred.
  • Forklift certification and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Involves heavy lifting.
  • Concern for the issues of hunger and poverty and their solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work with a broad cross section of individuals.
  • Must be available some evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage the Lexington warehouse operations under the direction of the Warehouse Manager.
  • Supervise the Lexington warehouse team, ensuring compliance with company policies and delegating tasks appropriately.
  • Determine work procedures, prepare work schedules, and expedite workflow.
  • Assign staff duties and examine work for accuracy, neatness, and compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Ensure labor is allocated appropriately based on order demand and Food Bank priorities.
  • Supervise the receipt and storage of product, including unloading, accounting for delivered product, and inventory control.
  • Supervise the receipt of donated items, ensuring superior customer service.
  • Supervise the storage and proper care of product within regulatory guidelines.
  • Supervise the order picking process, ensuring orders are pulled in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner.
  • Communicate with other team leads regarding order release.
  • Perform or delegate cycle counts to address discrepancies in real-time.
  • Review order accuracy and conduct quality checks.
  • Standardize procedures to improve efficiency with supervisor approval.
  • Provide productivity and order accuracy reports to the Operations Director.
  • Supervise the agency pickup process to ensure accuracy and customer service.
  • Manage the movement of donated and sorted product.
  • Lead staff in accurately recording product receipting/distribution and devising strategies for inventory accuracy.
  • Work with the Inventory Control Coordinator to ensure accurate product counts.
  • Supervise regular daily and weekly cycle counts for dry and perishable product and address discrepancies.
  • Address over, short, and damage discrepancies as they occur.
  • Daily inspect warehouse facilities and equipment for proper maintenance and report necessary repairs.
  • Train staff in the proper use of equipment and related problems.
  • Train and certify operators on material handling equipment.
  • Train new hires and current staff in order pulling, equipment operation, customer service, and warehouse housekeeping.
  • Perform informal periodic and annual formal performance evaluations.
  • Develop the team by cross-training employees and identifying potential.
  • Handle employee performance, attitude, and practice issues in real-time.
  • Oversee and evaluate staff safety practices and develop new practices.
  • Daily inspect the warehouse for security and safety issues.
  • Supervise staff to ensure security and safety procedures are enforced.
  • Assess and remove dangerous conditions to prevent accidents.
  • Serve as a member of the safety committee.
  • Oversee receiving and distribution of product to ensure safety and integrity.
  • Maintain high standards of warehouse sanitation and safety in compliance with AIB standards.
  • Ensure empty pallets are removed from aisles, coolers, and freezers.
  • Supervise housekeeping services for warehouse areas.
  • Assign pest control responsibilities and perform spot checks.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulations pertaining to warehouse operations, safety, food handling, and pest control.
  • Maintain required job knowledge, skills, and core professional competencies.
  • Assist with order pulling as needed.
  • Attend and participate in required educational programs and staff meetings.
  • Act as an effective communicator, team builder, and morale booster.
  • Think outside the box and perform other duties as assigned.
