About The Position

Readerlink Distribution Service is seeking a dynamic individual to join their team and play an active role in the expansion of a leading book industry organization. Readerlink is the #1 book distributor in the U.S., selling one in every three trade print books and distributing 300 million books annually to over 70,000 store locations nationwide. The company operates a logistics network of 6 national distribution facilities and also publishes under the name Printers Row Publishing Group with four unique imprints. This role is responsible for planning, organizing, and monitoring employees to achieve stated production goals.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Minimum of 3 years warehouse experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
  • Basic proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Must be able to work flexible schedules as required which may include working off shifts and weekends.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to speak with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Be able to write routine reports
  • Must be proficient in mathematics.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s
  • Ability to perform these operations using American money and weight measurements, volume, and distance
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate the ability to lead people and get results through others.

  • Ensures shipping, receiving, storage, distribution and production are performed in an efficient manner.
  • Makes employee decisions including interview, selection and retention of employees.

  • Continually review production requirements and assign employees to the correct work area.
  • Ability to balance and achieve positive results in the areas of safety, quality, productivity, cost and employee relations.
  • Resolves employee issues through problem solving.
  • Measures and maintains accuracy of inventory.
  • Manages multiple problems.
  • Coordinate daily workflow with other management personnel.
  • Performs accident and near miss investigations.
  • Conduct employee team meetings.
  • All operations supervisors are expected to be available to work in all areas of the operation.
  • Promotes accurate, timely communication up and down the organization to ensure priority issues are addressed.
  • Sets an example to co-workers.
  • Coordinate daily workflow with other warehouse personnel.
  • Ensures the work areas are appropriately maintained and correct any unsafe conditions immediately.
