About The Position

The Warehouse Supervisor directs the day-to-day work of employees involved in receiving, stocking, order picking, product conversion, shipping, route preparation, and related warehouse activities. This position assigns work, monitors performance, maintains floor coverage, reinforces safety and housekeeping standards, and coordinates with other departments to keep customer orders moving. The supervisor is expected to remain visible on the floor, coach employees in real time, and assist with operational work when needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Warehouse, distribution, shipping and receiving, or related operations experience.
  • Previous experience directing employees, assigning work, or leading a team.
  • Ability to operate a forklift safely and maintain required company certification.
  • Working knowledge of warehouse safety practices, inventory handling, and shipping and receiving procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, shipping documents, invoices, inventory reports, and basic performance data.
  • Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
  • Basic computer skills and experience using an ERP, WMS, RF scanner, or similar business system.
  • Ability to work the schedule required by the operation, including overtime when business needs require it.

Nice To Haves

  • At least three years of warehouse or distribution experience, including one year in a lead or supervisory role.
  • Experience with Epicor Eclipse or a similar distribution ERP system and with monitoring warehouse productivity, order accuracy, or inventory performance.

Responsibilities

  • Assign and redirect daily work based on operational priorities, staffing, and customer commitments.
  • Train employees, confirm understanding of procedures, and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.
  • Monitor attendance, productivity, work quality, conduct, safety, and housekeeping; document concerns and escalate them to the Warehouse Manager.
  • Support performance reviews and recommend recognition, corrective action, staffing changes, and additional training when appropriate.
  • Maintain visible floor supervision and ensure employees have the information, equipment, and support needed to complete assigned work.
  • Plan daily workload and assign employees based on order volume, priorities, staffing, equipment, and delivery schedules.
  • Supervise receiving, stocking, picking, product conversion, quality checks, packing, shipping, and route-loading activities.
  • Monitor order accuracy, productivity, on-time completion, damages, inventory handling, and other warehouse performance measures; address issues promptly.
  • Lead shift meetings and communicate priorities, workload changes, safety concerns, and service expectations to the warehouse team.
  • Use the company ERP and RF scanning tools to review orders, inventory, work queues, and transaction accuracy. Research discrepancies and work with Inventory Control to resolve them.
  • Coordinate warehouse activity with Sales, Purchasing, Inventory Control, Accounting, Service, and Transportation to meet customer commitments.
  • Follow and enforce standard and emergency procedures for receiving, handling, storing, picking, shipping, and salvaging products and materials.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse. Identify hazards, document incidents and near misses, and ensure corrective action is taken.
  • Inspect forklifts, warehouse equipment, racking, dock areas, and the general facility. Report damage and submit maintenance or repair requests as needed.
  • Investigate shipping, receiving, product, and service complaints involving customers, carriers, or internal departments and assist with resolution.
  • Prepare or review operational reports, schedules, training records, maintenance documentation, and safety records.
  • Support process improvements that reduce errors, improve workflow, and make better use of labor, space, inventory, and equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
