Warehouse Supervisor, 1st Shift
About The Position
This role is part of WinField United, which supplies agricultural inputs, expertise, and technology to member-owners and other partners. The Warehouse Supervisor manages and coordinates warehouse employees and is responsible for warehouse operations at the Story City, Iowa Distribution Center. The role provides leadership, direction, and development for first-shift employees in a one-shift, five-day-a-week operation. The supervisor contributes to the maintenance and ongoing development of the site's safety, production, service, quality, inventory control, and employee development standards. The role also maintains effective business relationships with local sales team members, customer service, other WinField locations, and corporate shared-services partners. The location operates five days a week, with weekend work as needed. Typical hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., though evenings and weekends may be required to meet business needs.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 1 year of experience managing people.
- At least 2 years of experience in operations and/or warehouse management.
- Demonstrated successful past leadership in operations, warehouse management, and/or managing personnel.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, smartphones, and other hardware/software.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds.
- Ability to perform frequent active movements, including walking, standing, bending or stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, pulling, raising arms, lifting, and climbing.
- Ability to perform duties while wearing personal protective equipment.
- Ability to work for extended periods in cold and/or hot temperature zones, including areas where dust and chemicals may be present.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as business needs require.
Nice To Haves
- Candidates in the rotational Land O'Lakes programs (TAP/MMT/DMT) will be considered.
- Associate or bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Business, Engineering Sciences, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience managing people.
- Practical experience building sales and inventory forecasts, collaborating with internal supply chain partners, and/or managing a substantial budget.
- Experience working with DOT regulations, EH&S programs, and other compliance or safety procedures.
- Forklift experience.
