The Warehouse Specialist performs a variety of warehousing duties that require an understanding of the establishment’s storage plan. They verify material/merchandise against receiving documents, identify discrepancies and obvious damages, route materials, and store, stack, or palletize material in accordance with prescribed storage methods. This role may be required to drive small to medium trucks for program needs, including possible overnight stays. The position involves rearranging and taking inventory of stored materials, examining stored materials, and reporting any deterioration or damage. The specialist removes material from storage and prepares it for shipment, and may operate hand or power trucks. They verify materials against receiving documents, note and report discrepancies and obvious damages, route materials to prescribed storage locations, and store, stack, or palletize material according to prescribed methods. Additional duties include assisting with inventory and evaluation of general property, operating company vehicles and material handling equipment, selecting storage locations and recording them on inventory worksheets, and forwarding appropriate paperwork to supervisors. The role also involves maintaining tools, equipment, and facilities, including government-furnished property and equipment, assisting in remitting, transferring, and releasing property, and supporting sales activities. Picking up, transporting, and delivering parts, material, equipment, and components to pre-determined destinations over 400 miles one-way, and assisting with loading and unloading of material being transported are also key responsibilities. All other position-related duties as assigned or requested are also part of the role.
