About The Position

The Warehouse Specialist performs a variety of warehousing duties requiring an understanding of the establishment’s storage plan. Duties include handling, inspecting, organizing, and accounting for stored materials; preparing materials for shipment; and verifying received materials against documents. The role may involve operating hand or power trucks and requires safe handling of equipment and materials. The position may require obtaining and maintaining a security clearance, passing a Respirator Physical and Fit Test, and traveling domestically or internationally on short notice, including to austere environments under harsh living conditions. The work may take place in a warehouse or outdoors in drafty, noisy, and dirty conditions. Employees may encounter extreme equipment noise, electrical shock hazards, moving mechanical parts or vehicles, and dirty parts and lubricants. Proper personal protective equipment is required. The position includes physical tasks such as extended walking and standing, climbing, crouching, crawling, handling objects, and lifting, pushing, or pulling heavy items.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Six to twelve months of job-related experience and/or training.
Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a government general-purpose vehicle.
Ability to perform work safely to prevent loss or damage of equipment.
Customer-oriented approach and ability to courteously and effectively work through difficult situations.
May be required to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance.
Ability to type using a standard keyboard for email and software applications.
Ability to walk and stand on level or inclined surfaces for extended periods throughout the day.
Ability to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands; crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows and knees, and reach above or below the shoulders.
Ability to lift heavy objects that may exceed 50 pounds, and to lift, push, or pull at least 50 pounds.
Ability to pass a Respirator Physical and Fit Test qualification.
Ability to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, forklifts, and similar equipment.
Ability to work in warehouse or outdoor conditions that may be drafty, noisy, and dirty; tolerate potential equipment noise, electrical shock hazards, moving mechanical parts or vehicles, and handling dirty parts and lubricants.
Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.
May be required to travel domestically and internationally on short notice, including to austere environments under harsh living conditions.

Responsibilities

Perform warehousing duties that require understanding the establishment’s storage plan.
Rearrange and inventory stored materials; inspect them for deterioration or damage and report findings.
Remove materials from storage and prepare them for shipment.
Verify materials or merchandise against receiving documents, report discrepancies and obvious damage, route materials to prescribed storage locations, and store, stack, or palletize them according to prescribed methods.
May operate hand or power trucks in performing warehousing duties.
Perform other position-related duties as assigned or requested.
Follow safety responsibilities, including applicable training, self-aid/buddy aid, emergency-response, and safety committee or team duties, as appropriate.
Conform to the Amentum Quality Policy and applicable quality system documents and customer contracts; understand quality management and customer satisfaction responsibilities.
Read, understand, and implement applicable operational, safety, quality, and environmental plans, procedures, and policies.
