About The Position

The Warehouse Specialist performs a variety of warehousing duties that require an understanding of the establishment's storage plan. This role excludes workers whose primary duties involve shipping and receiving, order filling, or operating forklifts. The specialist is responsible for rearranging and taking inventory of stored materials, examining them for deterioration and damage, and preparing them for shipment. They may operate hand or power trucks and are responsible for verifying materials against receiving documents, noting and reporting discrepancies and damages, routing materials to storage locations, and stacking or palletizing materials according to prescribed methods. All other position-related duties as assigned or requested are also part of the role.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
  • Six to twelve months job related experience and/or training is required.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and be able to operate a government general-purpose vehicle.
  • Ability to perform work in a safe manner to prevent loss or damage of equipment.
  • Customer-oriented with ability to courteously and effectively work through difficult situations.
  • Position may require the ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance.
  • Must be able to type using a standard keyboard to communicate through e-mail and software applications.
  • Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for extended periods throughout the day.
  • Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.
  • Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.
  • Must be able to lift heavy objects whose weight may exceed 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to pass a Respirator Physical and Fit Test qualification.
  • Must be able to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, forklift, etc.
  • Must be able to lift/push/pull minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Will be required to handle dirty parts and lubricants.
  • Will be required to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Nice To Haves

  • May work in warehouse or outside where it is drafty, noisy and dirty.
  • May be exposed to extreme noise from operating equipment.
  • May be exposed to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts or vehicles.
  • May be required to travel domestically and internationally on short notice, to austere environments, under harsh living conditions.

  • Verify materials (or merchandise) against receiving documents, notes and reports discrepancies and obvious damages; route materials to prescribed storage locations; stores, stacks or palletizes material in accordance with prescribed storage methods.
  • Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
