About The Position

Empire Packing is seeking a Warehouse/Shipping Forklift Driver to work in a cold environment. This role involves overseeing and participating in the shipping, receiving, storing, and issuing of supplies and inventory. The position requires maintaining receiving and inventory control records, preparing reports, and serving as a tech over assigned warehouse functions. Warehouse technicians must be able to make judgment calls based on equipment, product, and customer needs, and act as the final quality checkpoint before product reaches the customer. The job requires physical strength, hand-eye coordination, endurance, concentration, and the ability to understand and communicate information. Technicians will operate various warehouse equipment, provide labor support, identify and report safety concerns, perform machine maintenance and troubleshooting, and participate in all aspects of warehouse operations including receiving, stocking, and inventory. A computer and assigned software will be used for data input and report generation. The warehouse must be maintained in a clean, orderly, safe, and secure condition, with recommendations for improvements encouraged. The role requires arriving on time, working as directed, and potentially working overtime. Responsibilities include loading, unloading, and sorting packages in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be well-organized with good attention to detail, possess a strong work ethic and positive attitude, be adaptable and dependable, and work cooperatively with others. A helpful and professional attitude and appearance are essential. The ability to apply common sense understanding to instructions and problem-solving is necessary. The position requires working for long hours in a food processing environment with temperatures frequently below freezing, where it is wet and damp.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and participate in the shipping, receiving, storing, and issuing of supplies and inventory.
  • Maintain receiving and inventory control records and prepare related reports.
  • Serve as a tech over assigned warehouse functions.
  • Operate a variety of warehouse equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, and dollies.
  • Provide labor support to other areas as needed.
  • Be at work every day and on time.
  • Identify any safety concerns or hazards and report them.
  • Provide machine maintenance and troubleshooting when required.
  • Participate in the receiving, unloading, and inspection of shipments for damage and conformity to purchase order specifications and packing slips.
  • Contact Supervisors regarding shortages, damaged goods, or other discrepancies; complete receiving, discrepancy, and follow-up reports.
  • Participate in the stocking of products; plan storage locations; determine the proper location of supplies to allow for maximum space utilization.
  • Serve as a tech over an assigned warehouse function; prioritize work assignments.
  • Deliver supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Participate in annual physical inventories.
  • Operate a computer and assigned software to input data and generate reports.
  • Maintain the warehouse in a clean, orderly, safe, and secure condition.
  • Make recommendations regarding proper storage, inventory, and warehousing procedures and improvements in warehouse efficiency.
  • Arriving at the scheduled time, working where and as directed, and staying until work is done, or until supervisor and/or manager indicate work is done.
  • Load, unload, and sort packages in a fast-paced environment.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
