About The Position

The Warehouse EHS Specialist is responsible for ensuring full compliance with Canadian Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations across warehouse operations. This role serves as the on-site subject matter expert for safety programs, incident prevention, regulatory compliance, and safety culture development. The position supports multi-site warehouse operations and plays a key role in reducing workplace incidents, improving operational safety performance, and ensuring alignment with provincial regulatory requirements including Ontario MLITSD and WorkSafeBC.

Requirements

  • OSHA 30-Hour Certification or equivalent required.
  • 2–3 years of experience in EHS, warehouse safety, or industrial safety environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations, with Ontario and/or BC experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with WHMIS and hazardous materials handling in warehouse environments required.
  • Strong understanding of warehouse operations and material handling equipment (MHE).
  • Strong ability to conduct incident investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Strong communication and training delivery skills across diverse workforce groups.
  • High attention to detail in compliance documentation and reporting.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple warehouse sites.
  • Strong collaboration skills with operations, HR, compliance, and insurance stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% across Canada to support warehouse operations in multiple provinces.
  • Strong hands-on presence in warehouse operational environments.
  • Ability to engage effectively with frontline employees, supervisors, and leadership teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve safety performance in operational environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health & safety, Public Health, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Experience with WSIB/WCB claims management and return-to-work programs preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the subject matter expert for EHS compliance within warehouse operations and ensure adherence to Canadian Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations, including provincial requirements such as Ontario MLITSD and WorkSafeBC. Maintain compliance with WHMIS regulations and other applicable safety standards. Support Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) activities and workplace inspections.
  • Lead incident investigations, near-miss reviews, and hazard reporting. Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to prevent recurrence. Ensure accurate documentation and regulatory reporting of workplace injuries and illnesses. Manage WSIB/WCB claims processes and support return-to-work coordination in collaboration with HR and operations.
  • Conduct Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) and risk assessments for warehouse operations, equipment, and process changes. Evaluate operational changes and new equipment for safety risks and recommend appropriate mitigation measures following the hierarchy of controls.
  • Deliver safety training programs including forklift and material handling equipment (MHE) certification, WHMIS, lockout/tagout (LOTO), personal protective equipment (PPE), fire safety, and emergency response training. Coach employees and supervisors on safe work practices and promote a proactive safety culture.
  • Perform regular safety inspections and compliance audits across warehouse locations. Track corrective actions and ensure timely closure of audit findings. Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce incident rates and improve overall safety performance.
  • Maintain and analyze safety performance metrics including Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR), Lost Time Injury (LTI) rate, near-miss reporting frequency, and training completion rates. Provide regular reporting and insights to leadership to support data-driven decision making.
  • Provide EHS support across multiple warehouse locations, with up to 50% travel required. Ensure consistent implementation of safety programs and procedures across all sites. Interface with external inspectors, insurance providers, and regulatory agencies as required.
