About The Position

As a Warehouse Safety Specialist, you will work to expand employee engagement, team leader safety training, safety program support and partnership at our Distribution Center. The Associate will be directly supporting the Distribution Center team and collaborating with the Global Environmental Health and Safety team. You will also act as a technical Subject Matter Expert for your site in the application of powered industrial truck operations, warehousing, and pedestrian safety programs. Additionally, you will implement MillerKnoll Environmental Health and Safety Management System (EHSMS) procedures, processes, best practices, training, and assisting with execution of warehouse safety capital projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene or related degree.
  • 5+ years’ experience in Occupational Safety and Health.
  • Possess or able to actively work towards ASP, CSP certification.
  • Experience in deploying automated reporting systems.
  • Detailed understanding of EHS regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving ability.
  • Ability to adapt well to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, and strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Assist site leaders on incident investigations related to high risk pedestrian and powered-industrial-truck activity.
  • Be responsible for the annual completion of internal audits to identify gaps in MillerKnoll standards.
  • Develop strong working relationships and partnerships with Operations and Retail business units for the distribution center that you directly support.
  • Drive ownership through site team leaders of safety programs in the establishment and continued excellence of the site safety steering teams.
  • Ensure Technician Safety Concerns are promptly addressed or escalated to applicable support teams at the site, regional, or network level.
  • Ensure your site has completed an action plan against the open items to ensure they are closing gaps identified.
  • Review incidents to determine which require Global Incident Alerts and require teams to collaborate on the resolution of Technical Safety Concerns.
  • Share best practices between your site and within the Global Environmental, Health, and Safety department.
  • Stay attuned to changing regulations and internal EHS performance to change policies when required.
  • Support and maintain a strong relationship with warehousing, retail, and logistics companies to drive reductions in safety incidents, improve HSMS compliance, and drive continuous safety improvement.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.
