About The Position

Scott Electric Company, a large independent electrical distributor founded in 1946 with locations across multiple states, is seeking career-oriented individuals. This specific opening is for a Warehouse Returns Specialist at the Springfield, OH branch. The role involves managing all returned materials in an electrical wholesale distribution setting, ensuring accurate processing, inspection, documentation, and disposition of returned electrical products while maintaining inventory accuracy and providing excellent customer service.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Familiarity with warehouse management systems or ERP software
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to interpret packing slips, invoices, and return authorizations
  • Good communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate warehouse equipment

Nice To Haves

  • 1–3 years of warehouse, returns processing, or electrical distribution experience
  • Experience in electrical wholesale distribution strongly preferred
  • Basic knowledge of electrical products and materials

Responsibilities

  • Receive and process returned merchandise from customers, job sites, and delivery drivers
  • Inspect returned electrical products (e.g., wire, conduit, lighting, panels, breakers, fittings, and other electrical components) for damage, defects, and resale eligibility
  • Verify return authorizations and ensure compliance with company return policies
  • Accurately enter return data into the warehouse management system (WMS) or ERP system
  • Coordinate with sales, purchasing, and customer service teams regarding credits, vendor returns, and restocking
  • Prepare and ship items back to manufacturers or vendors when required
  • Identify non-returnable or damaged goods and ensure proper disposition (scrap, warranty claim, or RTV)
  • Maintain organized and clearly labeled return staging areas
  • Track and follow up on outstanding vendor return credits
  • Assist with cycle counts and inventory reconciliation related to returned items
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards when handling electrical materials
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
  • Other tasks/duties as assigned
