Requirements

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations. Understanding why machines are not at peak performance, how to increase output and how to fix errors. Adapts to changes in the work environment; Manages competing demands.
  • Employees will work with precision equipment, being off by millimeters could be a critical error. Keen attention to detail is required. Prioritize and plans work activities; Uses time efficiently. Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; Monitors own work to ensure quality.
  • Knowledge of Word, Lotus Notes, Excel. Experience with data entry. Previous shipping/receiving computer programs helpful.
  • Be able to speak, read, and comprehend English in order to understand work instructions, policies and procedures, prints, shipping documentation and written communication. Ability to effectively and clearly communicate information and ideas with willingness to share knowledge, skills, and expertise with others.   • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Some machines are controlled by computers and employees will need to work with technology. Others are highly mechanical and employees will need to know how and why they work. Read and understand blueprints, invoices, pick lists, schematics, shipping receipts, test results, work orders and other specifications.

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to four years of manufacturing experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Valid and maintained driver's licence.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to input, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Eye-hand-foot coordination essential. High degree of hand/finger dexterity. Requires 100% concentration and alertness. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
  • Requires arduous exertion involving lifting, carrying, walking, pushing, bending and reaching, and may involve the handling of heavy containers/equipment/boxes.
  • Able to stand and sit, on average 50% to 75% of the time, driving forklifts and/or using other required equipment. Repetitive body movements in the movement of product/s. Proper body mechanics and lifting techniques, required.
  • Able to lift and/or transfer 6" spools weighting up to 13 pounds 200 to 400 times per shift.
  • Able to lift and/or transfer 10" spools weighting up to 60 pounds 20 to 100 times per shift.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the work and/or storage areas are clean prior to packing, movement or shipment; as an operation progresses and work debris accumulates; when an operation cannot continue; after an operation is completed and prior to inspection and at the end of each shift. Maintain a clean and organized work area, by following daily housekeeping, PM's and FOD standards. This position requires good personal hygiene practices. This is a clean environment.
  • Complete any training needed to perform your essential duties. Any job-specific quality training deemed necessary by the quality department, including but not limited to, operation of job-specific machines, tools, measurements, gauges, workplace topics, procedures and practices.
  • Work with, and, train new or transfer employees, sharing knowledge and expertise.
  • Promote and maintain a culture and attitude of continuous improvement, working within the company team to make it a more efficient, safer, and enjoyable place to work. Attends and constructively participates in team and/or project meetings as scheduled.
  • Inspect parts, pallets and/or products for surface quality, quantity, color, appearance, diameter and dimensions, as called for by specifications, work orders, purchase orders, pick list, prints and/ or management and bring all quality concerns to the attention of Supervision and/or Purchasing, where applicable. Ensure the following: Receipt of Products and Transfer of Received Goods to the Appropriate Department/Individual: Shipping of Products from pulling of products from inventory to transfer to selected freight provider; Handling of back-orders: RMA Procedures: Resolution of Discrepancies/Exceptions (i.e., partial receipts, partial shipments); Determine any suggestions for process improvements.
  • Timely and accurately provides technical/scheduling/process knowledge to obtain optimum production utilization and minimize scrap loss ensuring proper machine/equipment/people usage. Make necessary adjustments to correct quality defects after consulting with the Supervision.
  • As part of maintenance measures, inspect equipment in use through troubleshooting, checking for any problems in them and fixing them or notifying Maintenance immediately if any, in order to prevent breakdown in the course of work.
  • Responsible for ensuring that prescribed protective equipment devices are used/worn. Observes safety and security procedures; advises Supervision/Management of potential and actual hazards/conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly at all times; Works in a manner that promotes prevention of accidents/ injuries/illness; practices good hygiene and takes every reasonable precaution in the circumstances for the protection of yourself and co-workers.
  • Documentation must be accurate, legible, readily identifiable, retrievable and completed in a timely fashion. Maintain documentation to ensure retrieval of data and protection of proprietary information. Records (paper or electronic) such as: certs, test records, Lotus, Visual (tags, issuing), WO, PO, PMs, logs, pick list, shipping advices and the like are required to prove conformity.
  • Properly complete, remove and/or generate new quality tags such as barcode, hold tags or RMA, etc. Ensure data entry is done timely.
  • Arrange suppling machines at the beginning and/or end of shift/work orders to ensure that everything is in order, this includes forklifts including monitoring them for unusual noises or movements. Test the machine before main work begins to be sure that it’s in good condition for production. Complete any necessary documentation.
  • Set up/Supply and/or operate machinery and/or shipping/receiving orders from shipping advises, work orders, engineering blueprints, production orders, cable and hardware part number system, daily. Determine operating methods and sequences. Various tasks include examining, labeling, measuring, weighing, scanning and sorting packages so that they can be delivered to internal and/or external customers in a timely manner.
  • Troubleshoot machine/production problems to determine actual faults. Strictly adhere to specification and ensure good quality work and correct shipping and handling of materials. Ensure timely preparation and availability of all production materials to avoid shortage during production. Report to Supervision regularly, keeping them updated on production activities and progress. Review blueprint/work order to ensure accuracy in production task.
  • Monitor all activities going on, record them for accuracy, clarification, and verification. Discern process variations through periodic checks and make any necessary adjustments. While operating forklifts or handling shipment equipment that are in operation, monitor it closely to detect any signs of malfunctioning that may affect the quality of work/safety and tackle it immediately to avoid it getting worse or excessive scrap/waste.
  • Inspect all finished products, checking for production quality and standards. When it is noticed that some products are not within specification, ensure they are identified as such and Supervision is informed as that is disposition accordingly.
  • Ensure the following: Shipments and/or Receipts are properly authorized: Authorization and Approval. Shipments and/or Receipts are accurately and completely recorded on a timely basis. Shipments and/or Receipts transactions are reliably processed and reported. Shipments and/or Receipts are delivered on time and in a cost-effective manner. Shipments and/or Receipts are adequately secured: Inventory and systems are secured. The delivery process complies with all applicable laws and regulations. Materials received meet required quality standards.
  • Performs in-process inspections of all production orders, manufacturing processes, hardware manufacture, inventory accuracy including physical and system inventory. Records and maintains all inspection and test data completing relevant inspection forms in compliance with QA requirements and department/work order specifications.
  • Able to identify and respond to material/products that are non-conforming. Knows criteria for acceptance/rejection. Familiar with Hold Tags, NMR, RMA’s, First Article Inspection, Disposition of Scrap or Expired Material, and the like, as applicable.
  • Responsible for loading and unloading material, dispositions material, supply work stations with product, ensure that material is properly marked. Support the production team by assembling parts, and performing other related work as instructed by supervisors.
  • Receiving: Counting parts, checking packing slips for accuracy, processing receipts, labeling of parts, put away of parts into stockroom locations, working with buyers to resolve vendor discrepancies.
  • General: Individual ownership of inventory, providing excellent customer service to all customers, picking parts from inventory locations, cycle counting, maintaining excellent organization and cleanliness of the stockroom/hold areas/, accurate labeling, verification, and troubleshooting discrepancies.
  • Shipping: Packaging finished goods, preparing and processing shipments, domestic and international shipping, performing deliveries and pickups in all weather conditions, accurate inventory of all finished goods, accurate transaction of all finished goods, troubleshooting discrepancies.
  • A Material Handler/Shipper/Receiver may be crossed trained on other operations or machinery. The following is a list but is not limited to: Barrels, Compactors, Computers, Cranes, Forktrucks, Hoists, Propane Processes, Scales,
  • Accountability looks at both effectiveness (whether or not a person is actually doing what should be done and achieving the outcomes desired) and efficiency (whether or not a person is performing in a productive and timely manner). Measures and standards of performance are derived from individual goals and objectives as outlined in reviews, supervision observations and department/company goals.
  • Performance measures look at: Productivity levels, cost-effectiveness and quality of product/service as compared to compliance with error tolerance levels established by customer specifications (RMAs, C/A, rework); Number of customer/client complaints filed; Percentage of scrap produced both individual and collectively; On-time delivery; Accuracy of information entered into databases, on work orders or other documentation; Documentation accuracy and timeliness.
  • Attendance/Punctuality - Is consistently at work and on time and demonstrates punctuality to scheduled work hours, breaks and lunches, meetings and scheduled appointments. Completes documentation in a timely fashion.
