About The Position

As a Receiver/Checker, you ensure that the correct merchandise is received by the facility free of damage or infestation and in the correct quantities. The role supports accurate inventory, warehouse storage availability, and the flow of merchandise from receiving to shipping. The position is full-time, first shift, at 125 N Commerce Way, Bethlehem, PA 18017, and pays $19.00 per hour. The work includes checking incoming shipments against manifests, invoices, orders, purchase orders, and bills of lading; recording counts, pallet types, shipment data, damages, and discrepancies; and maintaining records in the warehouse management system. You will also assist with inventory counting and research customer service issues involving shortages, overages, and damages. The role uses warehouse technology, including voice systems and RF guns, and may involve electric pallet jack work. The work environment may include grocery dry-goods areas with temperatures of approximately 50°–90°. C&S Wholesale Grocers describes safety as a condition of employment. Requirements

Responsibilities

Examine shipment contents and compare them with manifests, invoices, or orders to verify accuracy.
Record correct counts and pallet types for input after completing a purchase order.
Enter shipment data, including weight, charges, space availability, damages, and discrepancies, into the computer system for reporting, accounting, and record keeping.
Maintain accurate inbound freight counts to support appropriate warehouse storage availability.
Assist with inventory accuracy through cycle or directed counting.
Research customer service issues, including shortages, overages, and damages, and recommend appropriate responses.
Monitor the warehouse management system for open invoices.
Support an even flow from receiving to shipping and communicate issues and concerns.
Identify and monitor high-volume and high-dollar items during the shipping process.
Label pallets for stocking and verify inbound freight against purchase orders and bills of lading.
Record discrepancies on bills of lading and inform the clerk or appropriate management about damage and inventory shortages.
Set up items and slots to support efficient shipping and receiving.
Recognize potential inventory hazards, including storage of raw or overcooked product.
Operate the current warehouse management system and use necessary technology, such as voice systems and RF guns, to select product.
Audit pick and reserve slots and maintain accurate product rotation as needed.
Check inbound shipments for rodent or pest activity and document any activity found.
Perform tasks described in the inventory control SOP program and other assigned job-related duties.
