About The Position

Salt & Straw is looking for Production Prep Team Members to support our Central Kitchen of Oregon (CKOR) production facility located in Portland’s Central Eastside. The Production Prep Team Member is an entry-level role within the Staging Department responsible for preparing, organizing, and staging ingredients, materials, and packaging to support daily production. This role plays a critical part in ensuring production teams have the right materials, in the right quantities, at the right time. Production Prep Team Members follow established procedures, recipes, and food safety standards while working within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in food production, manufacturing, warehouse, or commercial food preparation environments
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Basic counting and math skills
  • Comfortable working efficiently within a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with coworkers and leaders
  • Comfortable working within a manufacturing facility alongside multiple teams
  • Can follow written and verbal instructions including recipes and staging procedures
  • Comfortable working around food allergens and within refrigerated/freezer environments
  • Reliable, organized, and comfortable performing repetitive physical tasks
  • Fluency in English

Responsibilities

  • Accurately portion, weigh, measure, label, and stage ingredients following recipes, batch sheets, and company standards
  • Assemble, organize, and stage ingredients, materials, and equipment according to production schedules
  • Stage packaging materials including pint cups, lids, tubs, and related items to support production needs
  • Clean, return, and properly store sub-assembly materials while following GMPs and allergen-handling protocols
  • Transfer ingredients and materials as needed for thawing, down stacking, or production readiness
  • Follow First-In, First-Out (FIFO) inventory rotation and material handling procedures
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe work area by following sanitation, safety, and hygiene standards
  • Identify and report quality issues, discrepancies, or missing materials to leadership in a timely manner
  • Use NetSuite to confirm ingredient accuracy and support efficient workflow between departments
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with Production, Quality, and Staging team members to support smooth operations
