About The Position

Great Plains Manufacturing is seeking a Warehouse Picker in Abilene, Kansas. The role receives, stores, distributes, and routes parts and products throughout the manufacturing facility. The posting also includes a separate statement that the role provides technical leadership to Manufacturing Engineering teams at Abilene East, Abilene West, and Kipp; this statement appears inconsistent with the Warehouse Picker duties.

Requirements

Strong attention to detail and ability to stay on task in a fast-paced environment.
Understanding of team concepts and ability to work as a team player.
Ability to safely use hand and power tools.
Ability to read blueprints and use a tape measure.
Ability to embrace Lean Manufacturing and implementation of change.
Ability to follow Great Plains and OSHA safety regulations and wear prescribed PPE as required.

Responsibilities

Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequences.
Retrieve parts and materials from storage locations based on production needs.
Pick orders accurately and efficiently.
Track picked parts and maintain accurate inventory records to avoid discrepancies.
Assist with regular inventory counts and audits.
Inspect parts for damage before delivery and report defective items to the supervisor.
Distribute picked items to production areas and protect them from damage.
Operate material-handling equipment such as a pallet jack, AGV, or hand truck to move parts safely.
Check material-handling equipment before use and report malfunctions to the supervisor.
Communicate with team members, supervisors, and other departments to coordinate order fulfillment.
Keep work areas clean and organized to promote safety, 5S, and efficiency.
Keep storage areas labeled and organized for easy access to parts.
