About The Position

The Warehouse Operator is responsible for receiving, unloading, preparing, and loading liquid and dry chemical products from trucks, tankers, and railcars. This role involves physical tasks requiring attention to detail, such as maneuvering hoses, climbing tanks, inspecting equipment, verifying product against documents, and maintaining logs. The operator will also use forklifts to move materials, repackage products into various containers, manage inventory, and ensure the warehouse is clean, safe, and accessible. Additional duties may include mixing and blending as required. The position requires adherence to safety protocols, including wearing safety equipment and complying with placarding rules.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, general education degree (GED), or US military experience.
  • Possess or able to pass exam to obtain Forklift Operators certification and demonstrate ability to operate a forklift safely.
  • Ability to read, comprehend and carry out detailed and simple instructions in English and write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure.
  • Ability to learn and operate technology-based devices such as smart phones, tablets, computers, PLCs, operational technology equipment, etc.
  • Meet or exceed production requirements.
  • Wear safety equipment as prescribed by company.
  • Comply with placarding rules when loading or unloading trucks.
  • Good safety and attendance record.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other departments and personnel.
  • Observe, follow and enforce all company policies and procedures.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Must pass E-verify check.
  • Must be capable of attaining a TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credential) card for participating MTSA facilities within Brenntag.
  • Able to pass company physical and all training requirements, including wearing Personal Protective Equipment, which may include a respirator.
  • Able to perform all functions of loading, unloading, packaging, stacking, palletizing, storage, and movement of material.
  • Able to utilize tools and equipment as necessary to perform job tasks.
  • Standing and walking for long periods of time, up to 95% of day.
  • Must be able to operate standing & sit-down forklifts, pallet jacks and drum pickers.
  • Must be able to climb stairs and ladders to the top of tanks, tankers and rail cars.
  • Frequently exposed to outside weather (from 10% to 75% of the time) sometimes in extreme weather conditions.

  • Candidates with prior experience in working with chemical operations (2+ years) may be considered if education or service requirements are not fully met.

Responsibilities

  • Receive/unload and prepare/load liquid and dry chemical products from/to trucks, tankers, and railcars.
  • Maneuver and connect/disconnect transfer hoses.
  • Climb up tanks, tankers and railcars to open/close top hatches and monitor load.
  • Inspect tanks, tankers and railcars before and after loading/unloading operations.
  • Verify product against receiving/shipping documents, noting and reporting discrepancies and damages.
  • Perform product sampling and quality control in conjunction with lab personnel.
  • Maintain accurate receiving/shipping logs and record product amounts via computer program.
  • Pick and stage product for delivery according to customer orders.
  • Operate powered and manual industrial lift trucks (with certification) to transport product within the warehouse.
  • Maintain daily forklift checklist.
  • Move raw materials to the production area and finished products to the warehouse.
  • Lift and carry bags, pails, boxes, and pallets varying distances.
  • Stage and remove product packaging in complex storage racking.
  • Repackage product into proper containers for storage or shipment.
  • Fill cylinders, drums, totes, pails or tankers with product and route to prescribed storage locations.
  • Ensure proper labeling, storing, stacking, or palletizing according to company and regulatory requirements.
  • Give special attention to packaging, loading and storing of food grade and USP items.
  • Operate electronic scale and process devices.
  • Store hazardous waste drums in the prescribed area in compliance with regulations.
  • Examine stored product and report deterioration and damage.
  • Rearrange stored materials.
  • Assist in counting physical inventory.
  • Ensure warehouse is clean, accessible and safe.
  • Report and clean up spills immediately.
  • Protect property from theft or damage.
  • Mix and blend as required.
  • Participate in ongoing safety program including safety meetings and trainings.
  • Wear safety equipment as prescribed by company.
  • Comply with placarding rules when loading or unloading trucks.
