About The Position

The Royal Group, a subsidiary of Schwarz Partners, is seeking an experienced Warehouse Operations Manager to oversee warehouse operations across three Illinois facilities within the Midwest Region: Chicago, Cicero and Lake Zurich. One location operates under a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). This role is responsible for managing and directing daily shipping, receiving, storage, and distribution activities to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operations. The Royal Group’s mission is to provide value-added solutions to the most demanding customers.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Ability to calculate figures; amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, and volume.
  • Ability to generate and interpret graphical representatives.
  • Computer skills: MS Office, MS Excel, Amtech/Encore, etc.
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, managers, and other employees of the organization.

Nice To Haves

  • College education is preferred but not required. A combination of education and related experience also fully qualifying.
  • Three to five years of progressive warehouse or distribution management experience preferable in a multi-site environment.
  • Prior experience managing operations in a unionized (CBA) environment strongly preferred.
  • Three to five years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is desirable.
  • Previous background managing warehouse operations in corrugated, paper, or similar manufacturing environment.
  • College degree or equivalent experience in Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and/or improves warehouse design by planning layout, product flow, and product handling systems.
  • Prioritizes and plans work activities; uses time efficiently; plans for additional resources; sets goals and objectives.
  • Develops warehouse operations systems by determining product handling and storage requirements, equipment utilization, inventory, gate processes, and shipping methods that meet company standards for productivity, quality, and customer service.
  • Continuously improves the department in all areas including safety, personnel efficiency, training, operations, supply, and maintenance.
  • Identifies and resolves problems timely and efficiently; gathers and analyzes information and develops solutions; works well in group problem solving situations.
  • Works within approved budget; develops and implements cost saving measures; contributes to profits and returns.
  • Assesses KPI’s and regularly advises management on status.
  • Oversees and directs incoming and outgoing shipping activities, including verification and record-keeping functions, to ensure proper material handling, accuracy, completeness and satisfactory condition of shipments, and compliance with shipping specifications.
  • Supervises, manages, coordinates, and directs the workforce by establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships with staff, developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, providing guidance to employees to sustain morale, efficiency, harmony, and high productivity to accomplish tasks and ensure customer satisfaction.
