About The Position

The Warehouse Operations Manager is accountable for the safe, efficient, and consistent performance of warehouse operations across all shifts, including receiving, shipping, inventory control, and material handling. This role translates Distribution Centre strategy into disciplined execution by setting priorities, establishing standards, and holding Supervisors accountable for delivering operational results. Each Warehouse Operations Manager owns performance, standards, and execution within their assigned process flow and shift (e.g., inbound or outbound), with Supervisors aligned to support clear accountability and consistent delivery. The role requires close coordination across Managers to ensure alignment and continuity of end-to-end operations.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in supply chain, logistics, operations, or equivalent experience
  • 5–8+ years of progressive leadership experience in a high-volume warehouse or distribution centre
  • Demonstrated experience leading leaders (Supervisors) in a shift-based environment
  • Proven ability to manage complex operations and make trade-off decisions across service, cost, and productivity
  • Strong working knowledge of inbound, outbound, yard, and inventory control processes
  • Experience driving performance through KPIs, continuous improvement, and disciplined execution models
  • Experience with WMS platforms (SAP WM/EWM preferred)
  • Strong data-driven decision-making and performance management capability
  • Ability to work across shifts and support peak operations as required
  • Comfortable operating in warehouse, yard, and safety-sensitive environments

Responsibilities

  • Own operational performance within assigned process flow and across shifts, ensuring safety, service, productivity, quality, and cost targets are consistently achieved.
  • Own safety performance and regulatory compliance, ensuring adherence to all policies and continuous improvement in safety outcomes.
  • Set operational priorities and standards, holding Supervisors accountable for execution and results aligned to business needs.
  • Ensure consistent ways of working across shifts, eliminating variation and reinforcing a disciplined operating model.
  • Manage operational capacity and constraints, balancing labour, equipment, and space, and making trade-off decisions as required.
  • Partner with Operational Support and Inventory Control to prioritize and resolve system, equipment, slotting, and facility issues.
  • Lead performance management and continuous improvement using KPIs to drive corrective actions and sustained improvement.
  • Ensure effective cross-functional alignment and escalation, coordinating with Planning, Transportation, Site Operations, etc.
