About The Position

You're a passionate delivery / logistics leader who brings a confident, people‑first, and customer‑centric leadership style. Discover a career designed to be different. At Room & Board, the leaders of our delivery centers are the foundation of our business; it's crucial they understand their customer, cultivate our culture, develop high‑caliber teams, and contribute to building their business. As a Warehouse Manager / Delivery Leadership Associate, you will report to and be a strong partner to our Delivery Market Manager. You will bring your passion as a leader of people to lead, inspire, and develop a team of 17 full‑service delivery professionals responsible for the prep and delivery of high‑quality, American‑made home furnishings to residential and business customers throughout the greater Boston area. Our delivery center is a 30,000 sq. ft. facility comprised of a team of 17 total delivery team staff members serving local and national customers with an average outgoing daily volume of 1,800 to 2,200 cubes representing an average of 33 to 44 deliveries per day. The delivery center also partners closely with our Boston retail showroom and supports several initiatives in collaboration with the Retail Leadership Team. This role requires a leader who thrives in complexity, adapts quickly, and brings clarity and confidence to the team.

Requirements

  • Experience in delivery, logistics, transportation, warehouse, distribution, and/or retail operations with an operational focus, with 3 to 5 years of effective leadership in leading and inspiring a team of service professionals, ideally in a customer‑facing environment.
  • A strong background in delivery operations, including familiarity with DOT requirements, routing, fleet management, and day‑to‑day delivery workflows.
  • A demonstrated confidence, high standards when it comes to detail and organization, and a belief that your success is tied directly to the growth and development of the team you lead and how you treat others.
  • Exceptional communication skills — both verbal and written.
  • A proven ability to stay organized, prioritize effectively, and maintain composure in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment.
  • A track record of holding teams accountable, addressing issues promptly, and fostering a culture of trust and high performance.

Responsibilities

  • Inspire and lead a team that is self‑directed and requires your leadership, not day‑to‑day direction.
  • Offer experiences that enrich individual careers, support their personal and professional growth, and foster a learning environment. Bring individual strengths together as a unified team.
  • Bring exceptional verbal and written communication skills that keep the team aligned, informed, and confident — especially during moments of change, coaching, or hands‑on collaboration.
  • Bring a customer‑centric and supportive leadership style comprised of high standards and integrity as you support a high‑performing team in providing a positive and seamless customer experience.
  • Roll up your sleeves when needed in managing the day‑to‑day while building toward long‑term strategy.
  • Demonstrate the agility to step back and guide your team through challenges — and the confidence to work alongside them when the moment calls for it.
  • Value building meaningful relationships with your peers. Seek the insight of other leaders and reach out frequently to share ideas, garner feedback, and offer your collaboration.
  • Create an environment of trust where meaningful feedback is truly seen as a gift.
  • Strategize and support processes that promote efficiencies and maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
  • Support all financial and operational aspects and manage with fiscal responsibility. Understand how your actions affect the near‑ and long‑term health of the business.
  • Remain steady when plans change, unexpected challenges arise, or volume spikes occur. Pivot quickly and confidently, keeping the team grounded and moving forward.
  • Address issues in the moment, follow through consistently, and help the team understand expectations clearly and respectfully.
