About The Position

The Regional Wastewater Reclamation Department is seeking a Warehouse Manager. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional communication and analytical skills, along with experience in procurement and financial budgeting. This position manages a full staff and an industrial warehouse of supplies, industrial equipment, and tools, which supports our facility operations. You must comply with the county, state, and local procurement codes, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in public or business administration/management, purchasing, material management, accounting, occupational training, engineering, or a related field, AND four years of direct warehouse and supervisory experience. (Relevant experience and/or education from an accredited college or university may be substituted.) OR Three years of experience with Pima County as Warehouse Supply Supervisor, Purchasing and Warehouse Supervisor, or similar level position working in material handling and inventory control within a warehouse or stores operation.
  • Valid driver license is required at time of application. Valid AZ driver license is required at time of appointment.
  • The successful applicant will be subject to a 39-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review to determine applicant’s suitability to operate county vehicles in accordance with Pima County administrative procedures.
  • The County requires pre-employment background checks.
  • Successful candidates will receive a post-offer, pre-employment background screening to include verification of work history, education, and criminal conviction history.
  • Some positions may require satisfactory completion of a personal background investigation by the court or law enforcement agencies, due to the need for access to County Attorney and Court facilities, records, and communication systems.
  • This position will require post-job offer proof of immunization(s) or immunization(s) and/or a TB screening.
  • This position will require a post-job offer physical and/or drug screen, which may include respirator fit test.
  • All warehouse positions require sufficient body flexibility, mobility, stamina, and balance to allow for standing, walking, sitting, grasping and manipulation of work objects, occasionally bending, stooping, reaching, climbing stairs/ladders, kneeling, squatting, lifting/carrying objects up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Interpreting written materials, manuals, gauges, etc.
  • Distinguishing various colors; comprehending voice communications in-person, over the phone, and hearing operating equipment; operation of machinery and powered industrial equipment.
  • Sometimes this position requires being outdoors, during inclement hot/cold weather, water hazards, wet/slippery surfaces, odors, humidity, dirt, dust, venomous pests, and uneven surfaces.
  • Some hazardous materials and gases may be present occasionally.
  • Frequently required to lift, push or pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum three (3) years experience procuring industrial-type supplies, equipment, and services required to support facility operations.
  • Minimum three (3) years experience with county, state, and federal regulations and standards for governmental procurement, purchasing contracts, and accrual budgeting.
  • Minimum two (2) years experience in an industrial warehouse to include inventory control processes.
  • Experience using computerized purchasing and inventory system.
  • Minimum three (3) years experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Visio, and PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the management of warehouse operations, including overseeing ordering, receiving, and warehousing to support maintenance and operations
  • Responsible for inventory auditing and reporting of inventoried items, and recommends stocking and restocking of supplies
  • Establishes warehouse practices for safe operations, efficiency, and productivity improvements
  • Develops or participates in the development of departmental-related policies and procedures and implements same as they relate to area of assignment
  • Interprets unit or department policies and operational procedures and reviews current and proposed new or changed rules, regulations, or related materials for impact on unit, division, or department management or operations, and recommends changes to management
  • Provides input to and assists in the development and design of automated information systems
  • Coordinates the collection, reporting, and documentation of data for assigned activities through affected supervisors and division managers and composes and writes reports concerning activities of areas of assignment
  • Oversees the development, submission, maintenance, and archiving of County/state/ federal-mandated reports, forms, and records
  • Directs formal training and development programs for assigned staff, County employees, or community or public interest groups
  • Supervises, trains, and evaluates support staff and coordinates the activities of area of assignment
  • Reviews work of staff to ensure accuracy of documents and adherence to policy
  • Represents the department/division by interacting with various County, federal, and state departments, agencies, private industry, contractors, and public committees to assist in accomplishing department and unit goals
  • Administers internal personnel activities in coordination with the centralized Human Resources Department
  • Monitors day-to-day financial matters such as sources of funding, contract renewals, payroll, purchases, and petty cash funds
  • Administers internal procedures for conducting competitive hiring and promotion
  • Develops, monitors, revises, and administers all or part of the department or assigned unit budget and maintains budgetary records
  • Conducts research, data-gathering, and reporting of special projects related to area of assignment
