Warehouse Manager Assistant
About The Position
The Warehouse Manager Assistant supports the Warehouse Manager and Operations Manager with the daily coordination of warehouse, shipping, receiving, inventory, and material-handling activities. This is a hands-on position responsible for helping maintain a safe, organized, and efficient warehouse while supporting workflow, employee coordination, inventory accuracy, and on-time order fulfillment. The position may provide day-to-day direction to warehouse employees, assist with training, identify operational issues, and support Lean, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role is intended to support the growth and development of the employee into additional responsibilities as the company grows.
Requirements
- Previous warehouse, shipping, receiving, inventory, or material-handling experience required.
- Forklift experience required or willingness to become certified.
- Experience with inventory accuracy, order fulfillment, packing, staging, receiving, and shipping.
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must comply with and meet all pre-employment requisites, including but not limited to criminal background check prior to start date, and pre-employment and random drug testing in accordance with Company policy for the duration of employment
Nice To Haves
- Previous lead, coordinator, supervisor, or warehouse leadership experience preferred.
- Experience with UPS WorldShip and/or FedEx Ship Manager preferred.
- Experience with small parcel, LTL, domestic, international, or hazardous material shipments preferred.
- Experience with Lean, 5S, or continuous improvement practices preferred.
- Willingness to learn company procedures, warehouse systems, and shipping processes.
Responsibilities
- Assist with daily warehouse operations, workflow, and employee coordination.
- Organize and assign daily tasks based on workload and operational priorities.
- Provide clear instructions and monitor work for accuracy, safety, quality, and compliance.
- Assist with picking, packing, staging, shipping, receiving, and material movement.
- Maintain accurate inventory and assist with investigating discrepancies.
- Ensure orders are pulled, packed, labeled, and shipped accurately and on schedule.
- Assist with domestic and international shipments, including small parcel and LTL freight.
- Assist with hazardous material shipments and required documentation.
- Use shipping systems and carrier software, including UPS WorldShip and FedEx Ship Manager.
- Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment safely and in accordance with company requirements.
- Support 5S, housekeeping, organization, and proper material storage.
- Identify opportunities to improve safety, productivity, efficiency, and warehouse processes.
- Support Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement projects, including data collection and process standardization.
- Communicate with Production, Purchasing, Inventory, Quality, Shipping, and other departments as needed.
- Assist with employee training, development, and communication of proper procedures and safety practices.
- Provide management with feedback regarding employee performance, attendance, training needs, and operational concerns.
- Assist with resolving day-to-day warehouse issues and escalating significant concerns to management.
