About The Position

The Warehouse Lead is responsible for directing, training, and coordinating the warehouse staff to meet company Distribution goals while ensuring employee and product safety. This is a working lead position that requires strong attention to detail and a relentless focus on following established procedures. This position requires individuals having a strong drive and passion for success and always putting the company’s best interests first.

Requirements

  • High School (minimum)
  • 2 to 4 years in a warehouse environment
  • HACCP and SQF trained, (On the Job Training, OJT)
  • Forklift safety certified.
  • Computer literacy – MS Excel, Word, Outlook, database, ERP/MRP/WMS
  • English competency
  • Cooperative – work well with diverse groups
  • Diplomatic
  • Analytical; proven problem-solving ability
  • Detail oriented – accurate.
  • Able to work safely with others.
  • Direct and lead employees to follow Oberto policies and procedures.
  • Excellent organization and prioritizing skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others as well as independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in safe operation of forklift, reach truck, and other warehouse pallet moving equipment.
  • Internal candidates must be in current good standing, including attendance.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in food manufacturing or related area preferred.
  • Lean Manufacturing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Train, develop, and monitor employees to ensure they have the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their specified job in a safe manner.
  • Ensure that employees are sufficiently cross trained to provide back up for any position.
  • Perform tasks with a sense of urgency with strong attention to detail.
  • Flexibility and the ability to adapt to unplanned changes.
  • Instruct and monitor employees to work in a safe manner and monitor the execution of safety procedures.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by ensuring that the warehouse safety equipment (fire extinguishers, eyewash stations, etc.) are always in good working order.
  • Promote a culture of safety in the warehouse environment.
  • Maintain the DC in accordance with the quality and cleanliness guidelines as set forth from Oberto, the USDA, and pertinent third-party auditing facilities.
  • Verify received shipments to ensure Oberto received the correct quantity of materials. Identify and document any damaged materials and refuse if necessary.
  • Prioritize Distribution tasks and delegate to warehouse staff.
  • Direct employee activity to ensure the highest level of productivity and safety.
  • Monitor and direct the receiving process including receiving inbound freight, verify freight is complete and undamaged, materials are put away in locations in a timely manner, and that packaging and production picklists are picked accurately and in a timely manner. This includes distribution orders (DO’s) and replenishment items sent over from Oberto’s offsite warehouse.
  • Oversee the creation of picklists and the completion of cycle counts daily.
  • Evaluate needs for disciplinary actions and coordinate with warehouse supervisor and Human Resources department when necessary.
  • Determine and evaluate innovative methods of warehouse receiving and storage to improve quality, increase productivity and efficiency, and reduce costs through employee involvement. Promote and foster a culture on continuous improvement.
  • Communicate shift schedule requirements and changes with all employees.
  • Troubleshoot issues as quickly and accurately as possible. Ensure the resolution of issues by communicating with Distribution leadership and other concerned departments. Take initiative to solve issues before they arise.
  • Provide timely, constructive, and continual performance feedback to all employees, both formally and informally.
  • Maintain appropriate communications with Purchasing, Customer Service, Scheduling, Production, and any other concerned departments through formal and informal means.
  • Maintain all DC documents completely and accurately, and verify receiving paperwork in a timely manner (real-time).
  • Coordinate with DC leadership team to arrange trans-DC shipments of product and supplies between sites, and verify quantities transferred are accurate.
  • Participate and help organize annual inventory counts by being available for counting, verifying, and researching inventory issues as required.
  • Monitor facilities, refrigerated trailers, and other equipment and communicate issues with Distribution leadership in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate with Distribution leadership on labor planning and other support functions to ensure that company goals are met.
  • Complete warehouse capacity reports and look for opportunities to maximize existing warehouse capacity.
  • Be adaptable and flexible to unplanned changes.
  • Maintain focus on the task at hand and motivate department teammates to focus on following department procedures.
