About The Position

The Warehouse Lead - 1st Shift will oversee and support forklift drivers in product movement, including loading and unloading of product. This role involves ensuring safety checks are completed, equipment is maintained, and daily tasks are organized efficiently. The lead will also verify the accuracy of load plans, scan units and trailers, monitor outgoing orders, and manage trailer utilization. Additionally, the position requires organizing and completing cycle counts on finished goods.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Five years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Able to read and interpret documents such as bill of ladings, packing slips, training and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write shipping reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form.
  • Ability to solve a variety of problems and deal with situations where limited information or standardization exists.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure.
  • Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages and calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, costs, proportions, and volumes.
  • Computer literate (MS Office including Word and Excel), data entry skills
  • Application knowledge of products and production processes
  • Quality standards – both ISO and QS
  • The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear.
  • The employee is sometimes required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, or crouch.

Responsibilities

  • Perform safety checks for forklift drivers, including glasses, ear plugs, seatbelts, dock locks, and trailer chalks.
  • Follow all safety standards and complete daily equipment checklists for forklifts and trailers.
  • Report any equipment maintenance issues.
  • Organize forklift driver daily tasks.
  • Follow load plans and loading instructions.
  • Verify accuracy of Closed Trailer Reports and Load Plans.
  • Scan units, bays, and trailers as required.
  • Review and monitor unit appearance.
  • Check status of outgoing orders and load plans.
  • Locate orders/units that cannot be found.
  • Monitor trailer utilization (empties in dock doors when needed).
  • Manage pallet inventory.
  • Verify accuracy of forklift drivers loading of trailers.
  • Conduct daily meetings with the Shift Lead to discuss issues, shipments, and notes.
  • Organize and complete cycle counts on finished goods during the month.
