About The Position

Western Specialty Contractors is looking for self-motivated individuals to serve customers as a Skilled Caulker at our Des Moines, IA branch. This role is for self-motivated individuals with a great work ethic and the personality to help with customer satisfaction. The principal responsibilities include making deliveries and pickups to all construction projects. The driver will also be responsible for the assembly, loading and unloading of trucks and assisting the Warehouse Manager with all warehouse responsibilities. This position involves training in preparation for the future warehouse manager role and will assist the warehouse manager in the overall operations of the warehouse, including equipment, rental records, material ordering, and coordination of deliveries to job sites.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License, Class A preferred but Class B CDL required
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects at one time
  • Familiarity with Microsoft office applications, Outlook and Internet research a plus
  • Good communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage warehouse operations for multiple branches is a plus
  • OSHA 10 hour a plus
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours.
  • Ability to operate a forklift and have appropriate certification is a plus.
  • Mechanical ability a plus

Responsibilities

  • Driving to make deliveries and pickups to all construction projects.
  • Assembly, loading, and unloading of trucks.
  • Assisting the Warehouse Manager with all warehouse responsibilities.
  • Training for the future warehouse manager role.
  • Assisting the warehouse manager in overall warehouse operations, including equipment, rental records, material ordering, and coordination of deliveries to job sites.
  • Receiving equipment and materials lists from foremen and setting up delivery.
  • Keeping a stock of needed sundries and certain materials to limit trips to supply houses.
  • Carrying standard items such as safety glasses, brushes, rags, etc. at all times.
  • Shopping for prices on equipment and materials.
  • Maintaining truck maintenance needs.
  • Having equipment serviced on a regular basis.
  • Coordinating schedules and deliveries with the Superintendent.
  • Overseeing equipment and materials ordering to ensure availability when needed.
  • Keeping the warehouse and yard clean at all times.
  • Bringing forward new ideas and recommendations that provide cost savings to the Branch.
  • Researching new equipment.
  • Keeping a running list of warehouse materials available for use.
  • Keeping track of equipment.
  • Maintaining a list of inventory within the warehouse and tracking inventory.
  • Managing hazardous materials and keeping them to a minimum.
