About The Position

Owens Corning is investing in excess of $200 million to transform our Kansas City Fiberglass Insulation Plant—adding jobs, expanding capabilities, and shaping the future of manufacturing at a facility that has been a cornerstone of building products production for 80 years. We’re looking for a Warehouse Lead who thrives on challenges, inspires teams, and delivers results that matter. The Warehouse Lead is a Senior site leader responsible for the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of all warehousing, yard, and internal transportation activities supporting the Kansas City manufacturing facility. This role has end-to-end ownership of finished goods, inbound and outbound logistics; production confirmations; and warehouse capacity and storage optimization. The Warehouse Lead is a core member of the plant leadership team with full accountability for Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost performance.

Requirements

  • Three or more years of experience leading 24/7, manufacturing-adjacent warehouse operations
  • Demonstrated competence in warehouse systems (SAP WM/EWM, WMS, analytics, data structures)
  • Advanced data analytics capability including high-level Excel skills, database use, and dashboard development.
  • Deep process knowledge across warehousing work streams with the ability to simplify and optimize physical and digital workflows.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Demonstrated success leading hourly teams and operating as a senior site leader.
  • Candidates must be able to meet the physical and environmental requirements of working in a manufacturing setting at Owens Corning. This includes supporting a 24/7, fast-paced, and ever-changing environment in a non-climate-controlled facility. Essential physical capabilities include but aren’t limited to the ability to lift up to 40 pounds, maneuver up and down stairs, and perform continuous standing, lifting, bending, and other physically demanding tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to, and continuously improves, all plant and position-specific safety policies, procedures, and standards
  • Ensures a safe, clean and environmentally compliant work environment and builds a culture where safety is a value.
  • Own all shipping, receiving, inventory management, yard and trailer control, and internal shuttle operations.
  • Ensure accurate and timely production confirmations from manufacturing into finished goods inventory.
  • Lead hold-tag governance and ensure correct disposition of nonconforming material.
  • Optimize warehouse capacity and storage based on demand cycles, labor availability, and safety requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement of warehouse processes, layouts, systems, and standard work.
  • Coordinate inspection and maintenance of forklifts, docks, trailers, IT equipment, and facilities.
  • Approve and manage third-party service agreements including spotter services, equipment rentals, temporary labor, additional warehouse leases, and maintenance contracts.
  • Accountable for customer-facing performance including service index results such as order accuracy, on-time loading, and complaint-free orders.
  • Proactively manage service exceptions and ensure adherence to customer-specific service stipulations and special loading or order instructions.
  • Build customer intimacy through reliable execution, rapid issue resolution, and transparent communication with Sales, Customer Service, and Transportation partners.
  • Actively lead safety and quality improvement efforts in partnership with EHS and Quality.
  • Coordinate daily production and shipping alignment meetings with Manufacturing Operations and Supply Chain Planning.
  • Support labor relations & ensure compliance across two bargaining units.
  • Investigate service exception reviews and communicate results and corrective actions to Plant Operations, Customer Service, Sales, Warehouse, and Transportation as applicable.
  • Participate in S&OP and demand planning cadences with Supply Chain and material planning.
  • Lead inventory reconciliation and controls process with Finance and plant leadership.
  • Ensure carrier performance and freight strategy reviews with Transportation sourcing and carriers.
  • Manage warehouse labor budgets, staffing plans, and overtime approvals.
  • Accountable for detention, demurrage, accessorial costs, and inventory write-offs, including root cause and prevention.
  • Develop capital requests and cost-justified improvement initiatives with clear ROI and payback.
  • Foster a culture of safety, engagement, and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as a proven leader and coach who models integrity, sets clear expectations, and holds consistent accountability.
  • Develop team capability through training, certification, and technical competency evaluations.
  • Tailor leadership approach to individual and situational needs while demonstrating care and concern for employees.
