About The Position

Participates in and oversees all activities related to preparing seed for delivery to the customer, which may include receiving, washing, drying, disinfection, Estimated Clean Weight (ECW) processes, cleaning, sizing, inventory, treating, packaging, and sampling activities. This position will participate in all warehouse activities at the Woodland facility and is expected to keep the work area, warehouse, and facility clean. Participation in the maintenance of assigned equipment is expected. This role is also responsible for the transfer of deliveries between Sakata Facilities and delivering products to and from our distribution sites as needed.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prior forklift operation experience.
  • Ability to lift 55 pounds on a regular/daily basis.
  • Ability to work with chemicals and other irritating substances.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment on a daily/regular basis.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work in dusty, hot, and cold conditions.
  • Must be available to work overtime during busy times of year and work weekend duty as required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform necessary quality checks for assigned processes, including seed counting, moisture testing, physical purity, and other quality assurance checks.
  • Perform data entry, data analysis, and data recording for each process as required, including completing required reports like the ECW report.
  • Maintain accurate inventory by conducting process controls, reconciling variances, and inputting data.
  • Perform computer data entry transactions to support all activities within the scope of the position.
  • Keep equipment operating by ensuring operating instructions are followed, troubleshooting breakdowns, requiring preventive maintenance, calling for repairs, and working with Maintenance personnel to ensure completion.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and orderly work station and proactively assist other areas in the department to maintain cleanliness throughout the warehouse.
  • Perform and/or be responsible for the completion of required daily, weekly, monthly, and annual procedures within the warehouse and the accurate filing of required reporting.
  • Support other Logistics workstations or company departments as assigned or approved by the supervisor or Lead, with additional responsibilities potentially required while working in other departments.
  • Act proactively to ensure smooth team operations and effective collaboration.
  • Maintain workplace area by organizing floor space, adhering to storage design principles, and recommending improvements.
  • Work independently and manage time effectively, meeting delivery deadlines and following assigned delivery routes.
  • Participate in mandatory training regarding GSPP handling protocols and procedures and apply all during the handling of any GSPP seeds.
  • Comply with SAI, State, and Federal Safety requirements and promote company programs that can minimize injuries, lost time, product loss, and damage.
  • Follow all SAI quality assurance, policies, and procedures.
  • Raise issues with the Assistant Operations Manager when policies or procedures are not clear or not working.
  • Keep the Assistant Operations Manager informed of critical tasks not done.
  • Keep the Assistant Operations Manager informed of issues developing.
