About The Position

Allweather Wood Company (AWW) is looking for a Warehouse Laborer to join the team at our Woodland, CA treating facility. This is a non-exempt position at an hourly rate of $24.87. This position includes full benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K matching and life insurance. Allweather Wood is the largest producer and distributor of waterborne preservative treated wood products in the Western USA. Operating six wood preserving plants in California, Colorado, Oregon, Utah, and Washington, these state-of-the-art facilities enable year-round production of a variety of preservative systems, fire retardants and wood species, including Douglas-fir, Hem fir, and Southern Yellow Pine. With support from two full-service distribution centers in California, Allweather Wood partners with home improvement retailers, lumberyards, and building material dealers to bring a full range of preservative and fire-retardant lumber and plywood products to market.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to train for forklift certification; forklift operation is performed occasionally as needed.
  • Prior experience in distribution, manufacturing, or building materials handling environment preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedures, instructions, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple sentences and communicate effectively in a warehouse environment.
  • Basic math skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written, verbal, or diagram-form instructions.
  • Willingness to work weekends and alternate shifts depending on business and market conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while supporting warehouse operations, inventory activities, stock rotation, product handling and material movement.
  • Frequent use of hands, wrists, and arms to operate equipment, handheld scanning devices and warehouse tools.
  • Occasional operation of a forklift as needed, including the ability to safely enter, exit and operate equipment controls.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl when inspecting the forklift or when performing other warehouse operations.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds of Wood/Lumber with or without assistance.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Supports warehouse and distribution operations by maintaining consistent inventory flow in shipping and receiving.
  • Cross-trains to perform relief assignments as needed and becomes certified to safely operate material-handling equipment, including forklifts and Bobcats.
  • Assists with general manufacturing and distribution tasks to support safe, efficient, and productive operations.
  • Maintains consistent inventory flow in shipping and receiving operations in a safe and productive manner.
  • Assists in preparing lumber orders for customers efficiently and safely.
  • Performs a wide variety of assigned duties with a high level of accuracy and proficiency.
  • Tags, wraps, placards, barcodes, and labels lumber units accurately.
  • Repackages and bands units as needed.
  • Sets stickers and pulls special orders according to specifications.
  • Performs as a relief operator for other positions as needed.
  • Conducts light maintenance and basic upkeep of equipment.
  • Completes scheduled equipment inspections.
  • Verifies unit tags for accuracy and compliance.
  • Keeps equipment and work areas clean, organized, and safe.
  • Operates machinery and tools including chop saws, mowers, nail guns, and related equipment.
  • Performs quality and accuracy checks on machine setups and production processes.
  • Assists in preparing products for inventory stock.
  • Supports special projects and completes specific tasks as assigned by management.
