About The Position

This position is responsible for operating a lift truck continually throughout the shift, performing routine inspections and preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment, inspecting product for damage or contamination, and moving and placing product safely and securely in its proper storage location. The role also involves staging product for outbound loads, emptying waste bins, and operating powered equipment to transport materials. Additionally, the driver will manually load and unload materials, perform cleaning functions using a respirator, maintain housekeeping standards, and ensure reliable attendance. All duties must be performed in conformance with safety and security standards.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
  • Two (2) years related experience in warehouse or manufacturing environment.
  • Basic computer or tablet skills; hand-held radio.
  • Ability to work required schedule (Saturday-Tuesday 4pm-2:30am) and arrive at work on time.
  • Ability and willingness to work voluntary/mandatory overtime required during the busy season.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in writing and verbally in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instruction.
  • Ability to perform basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to identify and compare letters and numbers.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as receivers, invoices, operating instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to read and write simple sentences.
  • Ability to work effectively with people regardless of their age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, or job type.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, co-workers and management.
  • Ability to maintain a level of production that meets or exceeds established guidelines.
  • Ability to work independently without interruptions.
  • Ability to complete necessary paperwork neatly and accurately and according to established guidelines.
  • Ability to properly count, document or scan the number of units as needed.
  • Ability to verify paperwork to ensure customer is receiving correct product.
  • Ability to inspect condition of product received and product going out to ensure quality.
  • Ability to follow a systematic method of performing a task.
  • Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions.
  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
  • Ability to adapt to change in the workplace.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to identify and correct conditions that affect Team Member safety.
  • Must be able to complete Holman’s forklift certification program.

Responsibilities

  • Operates a lift truck continually on shift, requiring proficiency in driving backwards and looking in the direction of travel.
  • Performs routine inspections and preventative maintenance on vehicles and auxiliary equipment, including cleaning and recharging batteries, and reports defects to supervisors.
  • Inspects product condition to ensure it is free of damage or contamination.
  • Moves and places product safely and securely in its proper storage location.
  • Stages product for outbound loads according to requirements.
  • Removes and empties waste bins into proper receptacles.
  • Moves controls to drive lift trucks and transport raw materials, finishing supplies, or finished product to and from the warehouse, trailers, or operating lines.
  • Moves levers and controls to operate lifting devices to load, unload, transport, and stack material.
  • Positions lifting devices under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, and boxes, and secures material or products for transport.
  • Manually loads or unloads materials onto or off pallets, skids, platforms, or lifting devices.
  • Operates a powered air supplied respirator to perform cleaning functions.
  • Maintains housekeeping of department/areas.
  • Ensures reliable attendance at scheduled shifts.
  • Performs all duties in conformance with appropriate safety and security standards.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned or needed.
